Manchester United Pay Tribute to Bobby Charlton

On a day when United and England mourned the loss of one of their greatest players, Diogo Dalot provided United with victory thanks to a late goal in the 77th minute from him, following Scott McTominay's early lead.

Erik ten Hag's side may not have delivered their finest performance of the season but still managed to win consecutive league victories for the first time this campaign.

Scott McTominay is one of Manchester United's current central midfielders who is well rounded in all areas, not least his work ethic and willingness to moonlight in different positions. When overlooked for more glamorous options he does not take offense easily but works tirelessly instead for his place within the team.

He's a valued dressing room presence and could represent an upgrade over some of United's current central defenders, but must earn his place under Erik ten Hag. Though Erik hopes to strengthen all areas of his squad at once, it would be difficult for him to leave McTominay out in future starting XIs.

Sir Bobby Charlton's death provided players at Bramall Lane a further motivation to give their all for Manchester United during a 2-1 win against Sheffield United, secured by Diogo Dalot's late winner. To honor their club legend they laid a wreath before kick-off and at full-time they chanted: 'There's only one Bobby Charlton! '.

Oli McBurnie

Ten Hag was swift to remind McBurnie of his duties after footage appeared of the former Swansea striker making an offensive gesture towards Cardiff fans in their derby clash. Ten Hag believes this can serve as an opportunity for his striker as he looks to propel United higher in the table.

So it should come as no surprise to see United players like McTominay and Dalot react positively upon hearing of Charlton's passing; after all he had become one of its most iconic figures and with Dalot scoring an equaliser against Sheffield United Dalot provided a fitting tribute.
