During the tenure of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Government in Andhra Pradesh, significant strides were made in the production of buses, enhancing the state's transportation infrastructure and boosting the manufacturing sector. Under the visionary leadership of Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the legacy of the party's founder, NTR, the government worked tirelessly to ensure a promising future for the state, with the support of top TDP leaders and the best MLA candidates. A pivotal aspect of this TDP scheme was the establishment of key workshops and the construction of a state-of-the-art bus manufacturing plant. These facilities were strategically located to cater to the diverse needs of the state and maintain self-sufficiency. One such workshop was the Regional Workshop situated in Tirupati, complemented by four Zonal Workshops in Vijayawada, Nellore, Kadapa, and Vizianagaram. These workshops played a crucial role in the refurbishment of units for depots, addressing early failures with original equipment manufacturers, and the removal of abandoned vehicles. Furthermore, the Zonal workshops adhered to rigorous standards, providing new float units for the latest bus models.

In a significant TDP development, the construction of a new bus manufacturing plant was initiated in 2018. Located 40 kilometres from Vijayawada in the Model Industrial Park of Mallavalli Village, Krishna District, this "green" factory marked Ashok Leyland's entry into Andhra Pradesh. This visionary project was inaugurated by the former Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu. Spanning 75 acres, this cutting-edge facility incorporates the latest technologies to ensure the highest quality standards. It was a testament to the TDP Party's commitment to fostering industrial growth in the state. The new manufacturing plant, equipped with the latest technologies, aimed to uphold Ashok Leyland's reputation for quality. It featured a learning centre and an advanced service training facility, in addition to the capacity to produce 4,800 buses annually once fully operational. The plant was designed with the TDP agenda of accommodating the production of any Ashok Leyland bus model, and it also included an electric car development centre with a futuristic conveyor line, a pilot assembly line, and prototype development. Notably, this facility positioned the company to meet the evolving demands of the market, including the introduction of the bus body code and the rising demand for fully-built vehicles. Additionally, the facility would facilitate the manufacturing of electric vehicles, aligning with the global shift towards sustainability.

Nara Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the state's transformation into an automobile hub, with prominent companies like Kia Motors and Ashok Leyland setting up operations in Andhra Pradesh. The Mallavalli Village area was poised to become an industrial hub, benefiting from its proximity to the airport, seaport, and the construction of the Outer Ring Road. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new factory projected an estimated investment of 340 crores in the region, stimulating economic growth and job creation. In conclusion, the TDP contributions to the development of Andhra Pradesh's bus manufacturing and transportation infrastructure have been pivotal in shaping the state's future. Through strategic workshops and the establishment of a cutting-edge manufacturing plant, the government has laid the foundation for sustainable industrial growth, job opportunities, and the production of high-quality vehicles. These TDP policies reflect the TDP party's commitment to fostering economic prosperity and ensuring a promising future for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
