Are you looking to make a move with your family? Do you work in the city of London and want to live in a quieter, more family-friendly place than the capital? Or are you currently living in Essex but want to find a bigger or better place for your next home? Consider the county town of Essex – Chelmsford – as your next move. Chelmsford is at the heart of Essex but it is close to London, making it possible to commute to the capital while living outside of the big city. But apart from the location of the town, Chelmsford has other advantages which make it a good idea to consider a move to this location. Here are a few reasons why Chelmsford is the place to be.

The main reason why many families move to Chelmsford is for the commute. Chelmsford is ideal for London commuters due to its mainline train station and the direct rail link to Liverpool Street Station in the centre of London in as little as 30 minutes. When you consider the short commute time, and the relatively affordable properties on offer in Chelmsford as compared to the cost of properties in central London, Chelmsford becomes a viable option. As well as being well-connected to London by train, you won’t find it difficult to access other areas of the country from Chelmsford. The A12 links the town with J28 of the M25 and you can also easily reach the M11 by driving along the A414 towards the west of Chelmsford. To reach Stansted Airport you drive 18 miles north of Chelmsford – a convenient location if you regularly fly from this London airport.

Chelmsford may not be the most scenic town in the UK but it does have its beautiful parts. The Chelmer River and the River Can provide some lovely green spaces within the town and you will also be impressed by Chelmsford Cathedral. On the outskirts of Chelmsford you have the Hylands Park, a large open space for walking, running, and playing games. Central Park in the middle of town is a good place to relax and is also the location for the County Cricket ground. In addition, you have easy access to the Essex coast. This coastline is beautiful and varied, providing many opportunities for family fun, relaxation, and getting some fresh air.

Chelmsford is well equipped with major shops and leading high street chains. You’ll have everything you need for shopping when you go into the centre of Chelmsford. And there are plenty of restaurants offering all different styles of food. For sports and activities, go to the Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre. If you want quieter, village living then there are a number of options in villages like Little Baddow. Wherever you choose to live you can benefit from the amenities of Chelmsford along with the convenience of being close to London.
