One of the highlights of a reception is the music. Okay, besides the food! There are a couple options you can choose for your entertainment depending on your style.

The first option is to have a DJ with a preselected song list. If you go with this option for your wedding music, you will need to select a variety of music. There will be music for the couple’s entrance to the reception, soft music for dinning and jamming music for dancing. This is in addition to your first dance and mother/father first dance songs of course.

When choosing a DJ for your wedding music, you will want to select on a genre of music of choice. Most DJs will be able to play a variety of genres—from today's hits to the classic 70s to polka! However, I advise you play music based on the age group and background of your guests. If you have a mix, then play music and appeal to the older crowd first and the younger crowd toward the end of the night. Remember to also make a list of your favorites.

Another option you can choose from is a live band. What you want to remember about most live bands is that they usually only specialize in a specific genre, so you'll have to decide if this will meet all your needs. The last thing you'll want is to have a band who plays 80s rock music when none of your guests like that genre. Your guests may get bored fast and could possibly leave early. Although there are bands that do play from a variety of genres so if that’s your choice, start looking.

DJ or a live band, which one is right for your wedding music and Charlotte Wedding Photographers. There are a couple more things to consider. Besides checking the booking schedules for both, you will want to take into account that a live band could be more expensive. While some bands play for extra income others play for a living. Also, consider your venue and the amount of space you will need to accommodate the band and their equipment.
