Ah yes, camping! It is a fun adventure with nature that offers a wonderful experience for families, individuals or couples. Camping is a great way to enjoy being outdoors, but there is a lot to know before you go. The following advice can help you properly plan for your next camping trip.

Bring a large trash bag for dirtied laundry, and keep it in a central location, suitable for everyone in your party. Let them pack their clothing individually, as this makes it much easier to find than if you pile it all in a community storage box or bag. Toss in a dryer sheet to any bag you want smelling fresh.

Always take more water than you think you will use when you go on a camping trip. Many times, people forget how much water is needed. It is used for drinking, washing dishes and hands, cooking and even brushing your teeth. Water is not something you want to be without.

Get everyone involved in choosing a campsite. Talk about which state to go to. There are many different places, so it can be hard to choose. If necessary, select a few locations yourself, then let the family decide among your choices.

When you bring your dog on a camping trip, make certain he has adequate tick protection. Bugs thrive in forests, and many flea treatments do not extend protection to include ticks, so ask your vet before departing if your dog has everything he needs and what you should do for proper tick prevention and removal.

Practice makes perfect when pitching a tent. Take the time to put the tent up before leaving for your trip. This allows you to build your proficiency at erecting the tent, and will also help locate any issues with the tent in case you need to exchange it for a better option.

You don't have to entirely rough it. Bring a little piece of luxury from home. Take something like creamer for your coffee or a chocolate candy bar. Such little luxuries will really pick up your spirits!

Even if you're not going a long distance away on your camping trip, or even if you're going into familiar territory, always stay in touch with friends, family or neighbors. Tell someone where your trip will be, and how long you'll be gone. And if you can, check in regularly using a mobile phone.

When going camping with kids, explain to them some common camping problems you might run into. It's easy to look at photos online of harmful plants like poison ivy so that they are aware that they should not touch them when they're camping.

When you are packing your clothing for a camping trip, remember that it is best to dress in layers. This way, you can add or remove clothing to make you more comfortable. Take along a rain coat that you can put on top of every other layer to keep you dry if it rains.

Camping can be one of the most fun activities there is. However, without the proper packing and planning, it might be a disaster--in some cases dangerous as well. With any luck, the piece above has given you the tools necessary to create a wonderful camping adventure.
