House training your dog can be very difficult when first bringing home your new friend, but that is only true if you do not have a consistent routine. This article will show you how to properly establish a routine that you and your new dog can easily follow.

When training your puppy, keep your goals and expectations for your dog reasonable. Just like when you try to learn something new, your dog isn't going to learn new tricks the first time you teach them. Different breeds and even different dogs within the same breed, will have different levels of receptivity towards training.

Learn to recognize what he needs to go out. They may pace, sniff, whine or walk in circles. If you see your dog doing this, let it out! Put his leash on and take him to the place you wish him to go. Give him praise for proper toilet behavior. Soon, your dog will signal you when he needs to go outside.

The best tip anyone can offer with regards to dog training is be the alpha. Dogs are looking for their human masters to be the pack leader. At all expense display confidence, firmness, and do not, under any circumstances show them weakness. They naturally want to follow a strong leader, so make sure that you present yourself as such.

It is important to understand that training require a lot of patience and repetition. It often takes between 25 and 50 repetitions before they are able to learn a new command. Getting frustrated will only delay your results and may hurt your relationship with your pet.

Dog training is not something that is easy to do properly, which means you should do your homework. Learning how to train your dog is almost as important as learning about dog behaviors and how they interact in a pack. Knowing what your dog expects from a pack leader makes training the animal much easier.

As mentioned in the beginning of this article, it is very important to get your new dog to understand what should and should not be done inside your house. If you set a routine and be consistent in your training methods, this will lead to a greater understanding from your dog as to what is the proper way to behave.
