The world of diamonds excites everyone, especially the ladies. It is really commendable, if you have made your mind to purchase a diamond jewelry, however, it is not as simple as buying regular items. This exciting world of diamond jewelry can be a bit daunting if you are not aware of its regular terms such as pave, prong, halo and a lot more. So, this article is written to give you some idea regarding various types of ring settings, so that, you can make your purchase with an ease.

Double shank setting

Shank is actually the band or the part that surrounds your finger. Usually, shanks are in round in shape, however, you can find square shaped shanks and other creative shapes also. The double shank setting is popular mainly because of double shank diamond rings. A double shank diamond ring has two spate shanks and hence, it is termed as double shank.

Prong Setting

A prong setting can be referred as the most classic ring setting. In this ring setting, a metal claw gently holds the diamond in its place. A prone ring setting can be pointed, flat or rounded in shape.

The benefit of a prong setting is you will find a minimum quantity of metal. The more diamond allows the light to pass through, which adds more brilliance to the ring.

Tension Setting

The term "tension" is taken from the metal band which is used to keep the diamond in its place. As a result, the diamond seems suspended between the sides of the shank. Tension-style settings can be complicated to make, however, these are less expensive and offer amazing look. Moreover, the diamond firmly remained attached, and thus the ring last for long.

Besides diamonds, this setting is also suitable for other gemstones that can also be placed in the band to give a shiny look. This setting is popular mainly for the wedding rings and bands which can have smaller stones instead of, a center stone.

Pave Setting

In place of using big stones, smaller diamonds along with tiny metal beads can be used which is known as pave setting. Both the diamonds and beads are closely set with each other which give a sparkle like effect.

This setting can also be termed as "bead setting" or "micro-pave setting" as beads are also set with smaller diamonds. Moreover, diamonds are the pave set, if they are smaller in sizes lets say.01 carats to.02 carats. And smaller to these sizes, diamonds can be termed as micro pave. So, whether it is the engagement ring for your loved one or first-time purchase, you should always choose the best that symbolizes the purity of love.
