Photography is a way of capturing things forever...capturing and highlighting the little things that one would remember forever, long after forgetting everything...In fact, it is photography that makes one understand the true value of a moment, by making it a memory...a photograph for all times to come.

There are photographers of many things, music, portraits, fashion, and wedding...There are some of them who love to shoot subjects, such as motorbikes and cars; this is referred to as automotive photography.

Motorcycle photography may include capturing a bike while riding, racing, wrenching, or while it is just resting on the kickstand...However, the main objective of clicking a motorcycle is to get a clean, well lit and uninterrupted view of the bike...the viewer should be able to view each minute detail with utmost clarity.

For motorcycles that are not in motion, can be shot with the help of light painting; In this, the room/garage/studio should be dark, and light should be exposed for more than a few seconds. The light source for the exposure can be held using a tripod. The basic steps include darkening the room, positioning the subject, and putting the digital camera on the tripod. The photographer must be aware of the appropriate focal length, ISO settings, and suitable lens. Many photographers prefer to connect their camera directly to a computer so that they are able to see the results large on screen, and that too as soon as the photograph is clicked. The position of the light that is being focused on the bike (subject) decides how the photograph would turn out in the end. Using this technique, the photographer may highlight the features as per his/her own discretion and need.

Motorcycle photography can also be carried out during racing times; needless to say, speed is a major aspect that needs to be captured in such photographs. In fact, not only the pace, but the photographer is expected to capture other details too, with maximal clarity. The shutter speed, aperture of the lens, ISO speed, flash, and focal length are some of the integral factors that need to be considered while clicking a bike in motion. All in all, in motion photography, the main objective is to compose and create images that capture the sense of action in perfect blend with a photograph...The panning technique works great to give a sense of velocity of the bike with stimulating motion smudge.

Automotive photography, inclusive of clicking cars and bikes, should be a perfect unification of creativity as well as dynamism...
