Guitar strings are thin, usually made of metal straps that stretch over the instrument's neck to produce various notes. Guitarists play the instrument by plucking the strings with their fingers to create various sounds. The sound created depends on the kind of strings utilized.
Steel and nylon are the two main materials used to make guitar strings. Nylon strings are used in classical and flamenco guitars, whereas steel strings are used in acoustic and electric guitars to provide a distinct twangy tone. Steel strings are also used on electric guitars.
