It might still be frigidly cold out there, but the fashion trends for spring and summer 2015 are well upon us. The runways have been filled with things we may have seen already, but with a more modern and creative twist, while other trends that have emerged are entirely new. What we’re seeing so far is a nod to the 70’s and 90’s, with trends like bell bottoms and flashy pop art on garments.

Aside from the runways where top designers show off their innovative pieces, you can also get a sense of what’s hot in the world of fashion simply by taking a gander at the hipsters strolling the streets. Perhaps it is the average urbanite that is able to give you a better sense of current and upcoming fashion trends, rather than taking a front seat at the latest fashion show.

While a lot of the pieces you'll see on fashion runways aren't exactly the type of thing you'd be caught dead in on an given day, what you'll see on the streets is something that is totally wearable, totally comfortable, and totally trendy! Check out the following 5 trends that are hotter than ever for spring and summer 2015.

Denim

While denim isn’t exactly something new to the world of fashion, it’s definitely got a bit of a twist this season. So dig out your jeans and give them a modern makeover! When it comes to the actual fabric, nothing is making more of a splash on the fashion scene than denim. Designers are taking this fabric to a whole new level, and embellishing them with patterns, sequins, and the most sophisticated styles imaginable. Picture the peplum shirt, the pencil skirt, and even the bomber jacket all fabricated out of denim. Top designers like Burberry Prosum, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana are using denim in their latest collections.

Pop Art

We’ve already seen some pop art from last season, thanks to the likes of designers like Chanel and Moschino. But this trend is continuing on, and being morphed into something even more fabulous with brands like Anya Hindmarch still pushing the look with garments printed with the Coca Cola logo and pencil case inspired bags. Fendi is also getting in on the action, creating the monster backpack, arguably one of the most recognized takeaways from Spring/Summer 2015 fashion runways. You’ll also discover nostalgic accessories continuing to be big this season.

Sneakers

We saw a huge influx of designer sneakers line the runways and adorn the feet of celebrities everywhere, proving that this footwear is more than just for working out. With the likes of Chanel and Dior creating highly fashionable sneakers this season, you’ll find that you’ll be wearing them for much more than just the gym. This season, designers are getting really creative and fun with sneakers, creating colorful and chunky renditions of the classic footwear that channels the early 90’s when sneakers were "the" go-to footwear for hitting the streets.

Sportswear

Much like sneakers, sportswear is not just for hitting the track. Designers like Alexander Wang and Balenciaga are getting in on the action with sports luxe. This look is all about the sport-inspired cuts being given a high-fashion makeover. This season, we’re noticing a pared-down approach to athletic influences. Touches such as wrist bands, zipper pulls, drawstrings, lace-up styling and racing stripes are cool details that keep the look fresh.

Unusual Animal Prints

We’ve already seen our fair share of leopard and zebra print. And those are classics that are definitely here for the long haul. But other, more unusual and out-of-the-ordinary prints are making their way on to clothing, including chameleons, scorpions, seahorses, jellyfish and even crabs. These images are not only being found on casual pieces like t-shirts and joggers, but even on sweet dresses and ball gowns!
