Ford has to its credit an amazing range of pick-up trucks which have been manufactured since 1948. Of its entire range, the Ford F150 has been the most successful and popular for the last 43 years, and F250 and F350 are close behind.

The first generation of the Ford pick-up trucks was launched in 1948 and it was known as the Ford Bonus-Built. The second generation of pick-up trucks introduced in the 1950s started the naming scheme of the trucks by F followed by a number, with the launch of F100. The third, fourth, and fifth generations of pick-up trucks saw a number of significant changes from the first released vehicle, with the introduction of unique and innovative features in all its models. This set the stage for the release of F150 in 1975 in the sixth generation which was originally introduced to avoid emission control restrictions. This was followed by the seventh to thirteenth generations of pick-up trucks, each better than its predecessor.

During this long and remarkable history of the manufacture of pick-up trucks by Ford, there have also been a number of special models of trucks, which are derivatives of the Ford F150. Some of them are Camper Special, Eddie Bauer, Harley Davidson Edition, F150 Platinum, and F150 Tremor. Two of its outstanding special models are Ford Lightning and Ford Raptor. This article aims to highlight the special features of both these models, and this will be helpful for anybody considering either the Ford Lightning for sale or the Ford Raptor for sale.

Ford Lightning

The Ford Lightning is also called the SVT Lightning as it was released by Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT). This was introduced in 1993 as a sports version of the Ford F150 and it was made to enhance the performance of the F150 pick-up truck. The basic structure of the Ford Lightning is the same as that of the Ford F150; however, the handling has been improved in Lightning by making minor changes to the suspension and the frame of the truck. In 1999, a modification of the Ford Lightning was released which again shared its basic structure with that of the Ford F150, with modifications to its suspension to improve performance. If you are considering a Ford Lightningfor sale, you can obtain more information from the official site of Ford.

Ford Raptor

Ford Raptor is also known as SVT Raptor and it was introduced in 2010. It is mostly suitable for off-road use and it has a number of modifications to serve this purpose. These include a set of FOX shocks, wider body and wings, and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Another modification, although design-based, is that the older models had a blue color oval-shaped emblem of Ford in the front; however, the Ford Raptor has the word FORD spelt out on its front instead. Based on its special abilities of being suitable for off-road use, it would be extremely worthwhile to consider a Ford Raptor for sale.
