Power set to acquire 162MW portfolio from Hecate Power

(Photo by:cheap solar panel kits)Renewable power provider sPower has signed a non-exclusive joint improvement deal with power developer Hecate Energy that will see sPower purchase nearly 162MW of projects.The 162MW portfolio will consist of three plants - Beacon 1, Beacon 3 and Beacon 4 - which will be designed and built by Hecate neat Mojave, California.

The utility-scale plants will then be owned and maintained by both Hecate and sPower.Ryan Creamer, sPower CEO, stated: "sPower's strength comes from delivering on what we promise. We take an entrepreneurial approach that seeks out projects that are not only environmentally and economically feasible, but also move our industry forward - like the Beacon projects."Groundbreaking around the projects is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2015.

The plants will supply power to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power through 25-year power purchase agreements.Once completed, the Beacon projects are expected to generate enough energy to power more than 25,500 homes and reduce carbon emissions by more than 283,500 metric tonnes per year.

Germany has approved plans that will limit ground mount PV to three tenders between now and 2017 worth 1.2GW in total, Sigmar Gabriel, Minister of Economy and Power has announced today.A 500MW tender will be launched subsequent month with bids to be submitted by April.A 400MW auction will be held in 2016 and 300MW available in 2017.

Electronics manufacturer Panasonic has signed off on a distribution deal with Netherlands-based PV product distributor Libra Energy.

As part of the agreement, Libra Power has now been appointed as the official distributor of Panasonic HIT PV products in the Benelux countries of the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.

With this new designation, Libra Energy is now responsible for dishing out Panasonic PV products for both the residential and commercial industry within the three countries.

French CPV module manufacturer Heliotrop and Portugese CPV module and solar tracker distributor Magpower are set to team up to form a new European conglomerate within the CPV industry.The new grouping will compete in all future French solar RFPs and currently have contracts to develop CPV projects with a total capacity of 50MW.The consortium is only set to grow, as French industrial electronic services provider Eolane will also join in on the group.
