Virat Kohli is a top order batsman (the Run Machine) of Indian Cricket. He has smashed 82 centuries in international cricket : 51 in ODIs, 30 in Test and 1 in T20i. Virat Kohli is the second most centuries maker across all format of cricket after Sachin Tendulkar who holds the record of 100 international centuries : 51 in Test and 49 in ODIs.

Kohli made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in August 2008. Virat scored his first century in 2009 when he made 107 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. In the bilateral series against Australia in October 2013, Kohli made 100 not out just off 52 balls and remains the fastest ODI century by an Indian. Virat Kohli has the most ODI centuries of any player after scoring his 50th ODI century in the 2023 Cricket World Cup knockout stage against New Zealand with a score of 117 on 15th November 2023.

Kohli made his Test debut against the West Indies in 2011. He scored his first century in Test during the Australian tour in January 2012. In the first Test of the 2014–15 Border–Gavaskar Trophy, he became the fourth Indian player to score centuries in both innings of a Test match after making 115 and 141. He was appointed as the captain of the Test team during the series and became the first player to score centuries in each of his first three Test innings as captain. In 2016, Kohli became the fifth player to score three or more double centuries in a calendar year. In the year 2017, with excellent batting performances he became the first batsman to score four double centuries in consecutive Test series. His seven double centuries is the joint fourth-most by a player. In 2017, he became the first captain to score ten centuries in a calendar year. Virat scored eleven centuries in 2018, second-most in a calendar year to Sachin Tendulkar. In 2019, Kohli scored seven centuries which included five ODI-centuries. Moreover, he scored his highest score 254* runs in Test-cricket against South Africa on 10th October, 2019 at MCA Stadium, Pune. Kolhi smashed his last Test century against Australia at Perth scoring 100* runs on 24th November, 2024. Virat Kohli declared his retirement from Test Cricket on May 12, 2025. Virat played total 123 tests in his 12 years craeer scoring 9230 runs with 31 fifties and 30 centuries (9 against Australia) in his remarkable test career for India.

Kohli made his twenty20i debut against Zimbabwe at Harare, Jun 12, 2010. He score his 1st and only t20i century with 122* runs on 08th September 2022, against Afghanistan at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. The century was scored after 1,021 days from his previous international hundred as well. Virat Kohli declared his retirement from twenty20i just after winning t20 worldcup trophy on June 27, 2024. He smashed match winning 59 balls 76 runs in Finale match of T20 Worldcup 2024. Kohli finished his twenty20i career gracefully by winning man of the match award in his last t20i match against South Africa. Overall he played 125 twenty20i matches scoring 4188 runs with 38 fifties and 1 century for India.
