The Impact of BCM in Human Resource Crisis owing to Israel's invasion of Iran
Posted: Oct 13, 2025
War is a destructive phenomenon. It seems really laborious to find a clear approach for facing with its outcome. In addition to having disastrous impacts, the next problem is how it can be added to an unpredictable and bad condition that might be caused by internal or external hazards. How can companies be prepared to defend against upcoming risks? How well-prepared and ready are companies for potential risks? How essential is preparedness for companies in the face of war? Finally, can they identify and adopt the necessary components for forthcoming risks? In order to help companies, answer the aforementioned questions, it is absolutely important to introduce business continuity management due to its role in addressing human resource crises amidst regional war. As Smith (2003) mentioned, Business continuity management (BCM) consists of a thorough management process that identifies potential effects that could endanger an organization and provides a framework for establishing resilience and the capacity to respond effectively to preserve its primary stakeholders' interests, reputation, brand, and value-creating activities. On one hand, by introducing business continuity management (BCM) to companies, they can tolerate discontinuities and interruptions in order to survive and endure in dangerous and ever-changing enterprise settings and enhance organizational performance. On the other hand, there are yet more advantages, such as fewer judgments needed to be made in emergency situations and less chance of misunderstanding and mistakes. Now the matter is how it can be examined? Is it really possible to avoid human resource crisis? How worthy does it seem for companies to know ultimate objectives, elements, definitions and strategies of BCM which are changed through the years? In today's digital and competitive age, human resources have become one of the most strategic areas of companies. when they lose them, we will lose their foundations, too. Are they actually going to lose their benefits, merits or even cause companies to go bankrupt as a result of risky situations? These questions and so many others still remain unanswered in the researcher’s mind. Let’s make the situation clear by providing some tangible examples. Middle East has been considered as a place for a lot of conflicts throughout the history among them Israel’s invasion against Iran also known as the Twelve-Day War, on 13th June 2025 has an important effect not only on regional and international security but also these two countries exclusively. The invasion exacerbated geopolitical tensions between the West, Europe and Iran and lowered global growth projections due to uncertainty about the conflict's impact on the human resources particularly. Consequently, it is important to understand and determine how the invasion affects worldwide commercial activities and prices, as well as its future implications. To compound the puzzle, Human resource crisis is another terminology that can add insult to injury as a result of this invasion. French (1978), a US professor, believed that the human resources of an organization consist of all individuals who are engaged in organizational activities regardless of their roles. Any crisis in this part can be ended up to effecting company value negatively and It ruins the reputation and upsets stakeholder perception towards the company. Lack of human recourses might influence on high turnover rates, slow down productivity and manufacturing operations more expensive, which would have an adverse effect on other socio-economic sectors and degrade our quality of life. By taking into account the aforementioned context, it is concluded cautiously that as a result of Israel invasion against Iran and Human resource crisis, Iranian youth not only lose their previous businesses, positions and opportunities but also there will be no sign of adaptation and innovation among them.
