Gearing Up for Black Friday: A Detailed Guide to Squad Resources and Objectives
Posted: Dec 07, 2025
It’s Friday, which means another edition of the Captain’s Weekly Resource Review. With Steam currently running a 50% discount on the standard edition, we’ve seen an influx of returning and new players. To help everyone get up to speed, this week’s guide will break things down in a bit more detail.
Player Recommendations
With Black Friday just around the corner, it’s wise to be selective with your investments. This week’s standout is Troy Parrott’s Flashback card—a true budget gem with 87 pace, 87 shooting, and the coveted Finesse Shot trait. He’s an excellent option for new players or as a solid alternative to expiring Evolution cards.
Angel Di Maria’s Flashback card is another strong pick, especially for his smooth dribbling and lethal finesse shots. The catch? He lacks strong chemistry links, so you’ll need to pair him with other Argentines or use a Captain chemistry style to maximize his effectiveness.
If you’re looking for flexible squad pieces, consider the Women’s Matchup striker—a well-rounded card with potential stat boosts and multi-position versatility. On the other hand, Jordi Alba’s End of an Era card, while solid, faces stiff competition from evolved right-backs like Marcos Llorente and may not be worth the FC coins at this stage.
Benjamin Renard’s Flashback card is a decent Ligue 1 or French squad option, but unless you’re building around those leagues, it’s better to save your resources for Black Friday.
Avoid the Legendary and Hero Player Picks for now—their value just doesn’t justify the cost with Black Friday approaching.
SBC & Upgrade Focus
Don’t miss the daily Gold, Silver, and Bronze upgrade SBCs—they’re quick, cheap, and essential for long-term resource building. The 80+ Upgrade is expiring soon, so toss any low-rated rare cards into it while you still can.
The Two 84+ Player Pack SBC is arguably the best value this week—just seven rare golds and eleven commons for two tradeable packs. It’s an efficient way to recycle unwanted cards.
Keep an eye on the Mixed League and Premium Mixed League Upgrades. Once South American card prices drop to a reasonable level (around 1,200–1,300 FC coins), these become much more appealing.
For the Continental Competitions SBC, most regions can be completed easily with spare bronze and silver cards. The European finale rewards a +3 nation chemistry style—worth about 30k FC coins—so decide whether that’s a priority for your squad.
A must-do this week is the 83+ to 85–87 Upgrade. With the upcoming FC Pro promo expected to feature top-tier cards in the 87 range, saving and opening these packs after the promo launches could pay off big time.
Objectives & Grinds
The Silver Stars League offers some of the best rewards available, even if you can’t reach 20 wins. Focus on scoring goals to earn the UCL Player Pick and other solid packs.
The Flashback Objective players (like Gundogan and Greenwood) are worth grinding for—they provide solid XP and come with useful Evolution items.
Also, don’t forget to finish the Silver Legends objectives before they expire. Having a few of these cards will ensure you can participate in future Silver Cup requirements.
Final Thoughts
With Black Friday on the horizon, now is the time to be smart with your FC coins and cards. Focus on high-value SBCs, grind the most rewarding objectives, and build your stash for the promotions ahead. Plan wisely, and you’ll be ready to make the most of the upcoming deals.
