Consumers throughout the world face two major challenges when dealing with a parcel delivery service provider. The first one is related to the cost/timescale and the second is that of safe delivery. Thanks to cheap courier delivery companies who pay great attention towards the safety and timely delivery. Apart from the quality of service, the most important factor is packaging and wrapping.

The whole process depends on the effort of the sender. The sender needs adequate knowledge before wrapping the product. Because proper packaging reduces the risk of the product being damaged on its journey. Let's have a look at some of the packaging guidelines.

Packaging Box:

It is advisable to use a strong double walled cardboard box. According to the weight of the parcel, a strong outer wrapping is also important before delivery. So the sender needs to make sure that the container is capable enough to bear the contents and the fragile items are not touching the side of the container or any contact between each other.

Careful Wrapping:

Whatever the product may be, wrapping needs special attention. Odd shaped items should be packed in special boxes with protective material like bubble wrap, polythene foam, and crumpled paper and polystyrene chips. Protection is also required for multiple product inside one box. Similarly, specific covering is also required for different products like automobile parts, electrical items, musical instruments etc.

Sealing Guidelines:

Just like box and wrapping, tape is also an important part of packaging. The top and bottom sides of the parcel require an effective seal using reinforced carton tape or high quality plastic tape. The use of ordinary tape could cause the parcel to come open and the contents to become damaged.

Label and Address:

While attaching a label on the parcel, one should make sure that it is properly attached with a clear plastic envelope. At the same time, the recipient's address should be clearly written on the parcel. Accurate addressing helps in solving any kind of query during transit. A telephone number can also be written on the pack for better communication.

Points to Remember:

  • Overloaded must should be avoided. It only leads to the damage of the product(s).
  • Recipient address and return address should be clearly mentioned.
  • A reliable and cheap courier service provider should be contacted for delivery.
  • Soft cushioning materials should be used to protect the audio/video disks and data disks.
  • In case of reusing a box, all the existing labels and stickers should be replaced before delivery.
