Welcome:

Mohammed Abbassa, Professor of Comparative Literature, taught at the University of Mostaganem, Algeria. I am pleased to share with you, through this website, a collection of articles and research I have published in the field of comparative literary studies, particularly on the relationship between Andalusian Arabic literature and the literature of the troubadour poets of Provence, as well as research related to translation, Sufism, and everything concerning the history of Arab-Islamic civilization.

Degrees obtained:

Bachelor of Arts with a specialization in Linguistics, University of Oran (1976–1980).

Master’s degree in Comparative Literature, University of Baghdad, Iraq (1980–1984).

Doctorate in Comparative Literature, Central Faculty of Algiers (1990–1996).

Other attestations:

Certificate of training in teaching French as a foreign language from the University of Grenoble, France (1993).

Certificate of training in linguistics from the University of Cergy-Pontoise, Paris, France (2000).

Publications:

Various articles published in Algerian, Arab and European academic journals in Arabic and French (comparative literature, translation, mysticism, Hispano-Arabic strophic poetry and Occitan troubadour poetry).

Conferences:

Organization of international conferences at the University of Mostaganem, generally on spiritual heritage, religious literature, interculturality, language, and otherness.

Participation in national and international conferences at the University of Mostaganem and Universities in western Algeria.

Scientific and educational activities:

Supervision of doctoral theses and master’s theses at the University of Mostaganem and Universities in western Algeria since 2000.

Member of the National Pedagogical Committee for Languages from 1988 to 2006.

Chair of the Scientific Committee of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature from 2000 to 2006.

Chair of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Letters and Arts from 2001 to 2007.

Founder and director of the journal « Annales du patrimoine » (Annals of Heritage), a trilingual academic publication published online from 2004 to 2025.

Administrative activities:

Head of the Department of Foreign Languages from 1988 to 1993.

Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages from 1993 to 1998.

Director of the Intensive Language Teaching Center from 1988 to 1998.

Divers articles publiés dans des revues académiques algériennes, arabes et européennes en arabe et en français (la littérature comparée, la traduction, le mysticisme, la poésie strophique hispano-arabe et la poésie occitane des troubadours).

Colloques :

Organisation de colloques internationaux à l’Université de Mostaganem, généralement sur le patrimoine spirituel, la littérature religieuse, l’interculturalité, la langue et l’altérité.

Participation aux colloques nationaux et internationaux à l’Université de Mostaganem et les Universités de l’ouest algérien.

Activités scientifiques et pédagogiques :

Encadrement de thèses de doctorat et de mémoires de magistère à l’Université de Mostaganem et aux Universités de l’ouest algérien depuis 2002.

Membre du comité pédagogique national des langues de 1988 à 2006.

Président du comité scientifique du département de langue et littérature arabes de 2000 à 2006.

Président du conseil scientifique de la faculté des lettres et des arts de 2001 à 2007.

Fondateur et directeur de la revue « Annales du patrimoine », publication académique trilingue paraît en ligne de 2004 à 2025.
