Why door supervisor training, FPSO and an SIA security course costs more than you think
Posted: Oct 06, 2013
Did you know door supervisor training these days is not very cheap? While you may find door supervisor training courses for £139 for a two to three-day course, this amount often overlooks the fact you have to have a license as well. A three-year license can cost £220 and license holders do get a £ 44 tax relief. Businesses do not have to pay tax.
Keeping in mind these charges can help when you go to pay taxes. While it may cost more to undergo SIA security course, you cannot operate as a front door supervisor without proof you are licensed to be a front door supervisor, under the 2001 Private Security Industry Act.
Combined with class fees for FPSO training, getting licensing costs
Getting your security licensing costs and some businesses and states in the US require a security guard to have proper licensing for each security restraint you carry – handcuffs, mace, gun and other safety devices. However, in the UK, many security guards are not allowed to carry a gun. It depends on what type of security guard a person is.
While FPSO training can also run more than £100 for two to three days of training, guards may get a discount. However, most security companies offering SIA security course do not always offer percentage in discounts. They also may not all cover the same topics in FPSO training. This way depend on if companies offering the SIA security training also provide basic or advanced FPSO training. Course activities will be different if a company only provides basic FPSO training or re-training.
Why taking SIA security course is worth the cost
The value of having SIA security training may not seem worth the price in monetary costs. However, security guards do tend to reap other benefits than strictly saving 50 percent when paying for two or more SIA security course courses.
Security guards may repeat the national attention for saving someone’s life because they stopped someone from entering a building with a gun. This is why someone receives door supervisor training may not receive enough credit for defusing a harmful situation and saving lives. Since a door supervisor is the first line of offense for many businesses, it is important to have door supervisor training that offers courses that are varied from other companies’ offerings. No matter if, you are taking door supervisor training or training because you are the first person on the scene of an accident, the intrinsic value outweighs the licensing costs.
