California Missions-an ideal historical trip

The 21 missions of California were built by the Spanish messengers of God who had come in to the country with the motive of converting the natives into Christianity and to turn the area into Spanish colony. They were sent back in the late 1800’s to their country and the church lands were distributed among the locals for expansion of the country. The remains of these church buildings and the newly restored ones are major tourist attractions today. Here are some tips which the travelers and tourists can follow:

Tip#1: Research and planning

Before taking down any kind of travel long or short it is very important to do a well research about the place to be visited. The internet has become the easiest means for gathering any kind of information about the place. The history, architecture, churches of importance to visit and the visiting hours etc., everything is available in the internet.

With respect with the numbers of churches to be visited in order to understand the Native American history, one has to plan his or her vacation accordingly. One should take a week to ten days holidays, at least, for a peaceful and relaxing trip.

Tip#2: road knowledge and transportation

The best way to visit these historical buildings is by taking a road trip along the coast of California. All the buildings are built in the major cities of the state in a string like shape and are not difficult to be found.

The individual or group of people who takes upon the journey should be familiar with the roads of the state and the best way to do so is through maps. Other than paper maps, new technology like navigation system in the car and digital maps also help the people to understand the route properly.

Tip#3: accommodation and climate

With the bustling number of people visiting the place very year, there is no shortage of hotels and restaurants for food and lodging purposes. There are a number of souvenir shops along the way from where the tourists can buy gifts and souvenir for family, friends or themselves.

The missions are built on the lines of coastal areas of the state and hence, there’s unpredictability in the climate. The weather can vary from being hot to extreme hot and one should be dressed in comfortable clothes.

Things to remember

The California missions are one of the old structures of California and many have been or are being restored at the present. These churches and missions have old paintings and documents which dates back to over 200 years. In order to preserve and save those many churches do not allow one to click photos with flash mechanism because the light emitted from the camera flash is harmful for the old paintings and scriptures on the wall.

Many renovated Spanish buildings, these days, serve as churches of the state and an individual or a group of tourist might find themselves amidst funeral services or wedding celebrations or church services in the time of their travels.
