In case you pass your May 2026 CA Foundation Exam, you will also have a solid amount of time until your May 2027 CA Intermediate Exam to further develop your abilities. You can really use this time to learn the material inside out with repeated iterations over and over and also answering enough practice exams, however when you start early and consistently, you have a much greater chance of passing both groups of your CA Intermediate exam on your first attempt.

The CA Intermediate exam has six papers divided into two groups under the existing ICAI system; each is made up of three papers.

Group 1Paper 1: Advanced AccountingPaper 2: Corporate and Other LawsPaper 3: Taxation

Group 2 Paper 4: Cost and Management AccountingPaper 5: Auditing and EthicsPaper 6: Financial Management and Strategic Management

Best Strategy for CA Intermediate May 2027 Preparation1. Start Preparation Immediately After Foundation Result

Many students waste several months after finishing Foundation. Instead, begin your Intermediate preparation as soon as the result is announced. Early preparation gives you a big advantage because the syllabus is extensive and concept-focused.

2. Build Strong Conceptual Clarity

CA Intermediate is not about memorizing. Focus on understanding concepts instead of just recalling answers. Strong concepts help you solve practical questions and deal with the ICAI's application-based exam format.

3. Prepare a Subject-Wise Study Plan

Allocate study hours based on the difficulty of each subject:

  • Advanced Accounting – 25%
  • Taxation – 25%
  • Costing – 15%
  • Law – 15%
  • Audit – 10%
  • FM & SM – 10%

This balanced method ensures you cover all subjects adequately.

4. Complete Classes and Self-Study Simultaneously

Don’t wait for all classes to end before starting your revision. Do daily self-study alongside your classes. This helps you remember concepts and lowers exam pressure.

5. Solve ICAI Study Material and RTPs

ICAI Study Material should be your main source. Along with it, regularly solve:

  • Revision Test Papers (RTPs)
  • Mock Test Papers (MTPs)
  • Past Examination Questions

Many exam questions are based on ICAI’s own material.

6. Maintain Short Notes

Create brief notes for:

  • Law provisions
  • Audit standards
  • Tax amendments
  • Formulae in FM and Costing

These notes are very helpful during revision.

7. Follow the Three-Revision Rule

Successful CA Intermediate preparation usually involves:

  • First Revision: Understanding concepts
  • Second Revision: Practicing questions and solving problems
  • Third Revision: Taking mock tests and focusing on exam preparation

Students who revise multiple times generally do better than those who study the syllabus just once.

8. Practice Writing Answers

For theory subjects like Law and Audit, practice writing answers is crucial. Present your answers in a clear format with proper headings, keywords, and legal provisions when needed.

9. Attempt Mock Tests

Mock tests help students:

  • Improve speed
  • Manage time well
  • Identify weak areas
  • Build confidence before the actual exam

Try to take at least 3 to 4 full-length mock tests before the exam.

10. Stay Consistent

Consistency matters more than studying long hours now and then. Even 6 to 8 focused study hours each day for several months can lead to great results.

Conclusion

The Intermediate Level of Chartered Accountancy is where many students take their first step towards becoming a Chartered Accountant. After getting your results from the CA Foundation May 2026 exam, you should use this period as an opportunity to prepare for CA Intermediate May 2027.
