Highlights

Megaport secured four new AI infrastructure contracts with a combined Total Contract Value (TCV) of approximately AU$458.9 million, significantly expanding its exposure to the rapidly growing AI compute market.

  • The company announced plans to establish a globally distributed AI Inference Cloud supported by a AU$350 million investment in GPU and storage infrastructure.
  • Combined Group pro-forma Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) increased to AU$662.9 million, supported by strategic contracts contributing AU$747.8 million in TCV and AU$301.3 million in ARR.

Megaport Limited (ASX: MP1) rose 3.213%, with its share price increasing AU$0.579 to AU$18.630 after unveiling a transformative artificial intelligence infrastructure strategy supported by major contract wins, substantial infrastructure investment, and a large-scale capital raising. The announcement positions the company beyond its traditional connectivity business and into the rapidly expanding AI compute ecosystem, an area management believes represents one of the most significant infrastructure opportunities of the coming decade.

Four Major AI Contracts Strengthen Revenue Visibility

Megaport announced the execution of four strategic AI infrastructure agreements with a combined Total Contract Value of approximately AU$458.9 million. These contracts are expected to contribute approximately AU$205.4 million in Annual Recurring Revenue, materially strengthening the company's long-term revenue profile.

Management noted that customer demand for AI inference capacity continues to accelerate as enterprises increasingly deploy generative AI applications into production environments. The development has attracted attention from investors seeking exposure to innovative technology-focused companies within the broader Asx 200 ecosystem.

AU$350 Million GPU Infrastructure Platform Unveiled

A key component of the strategy is the creation of a globally distributed AI Inference Cloud supported by approximately AU$350 million of GPU and storage infrastructure investment.

The platform is designed to deliver on-demand AI compute services through a distributed architecture, enabling customers to access inference capacity closer to end users while reducing latency and improving performance. Management highlighted that global demand for GPU-based computing resources currently exceeds available supply, creating a significant market opportunity.

GPU Pool Designed for Consumption-Based Growth

The company also announced the establishment of a large-scale GPU Pool that will allow customers to access AI compute resources through automated provisioning and consumption-based pricing models.

This approach is intended to improve utilisation rates while providing customers with flexible access to infrastructure without substantial upfront investment. Management believes this model could become an important differentiator as AI adoption expands globally.

Recurring Revenue Profile Expands Significantly

Following the new contracts, Megaport reported that its Compute division's pro-forma ARR increased to approximately AU$385.2 million. Strategic AI contracts collectively contributed AU$747.8 million in TCV and AU$301.3 million in ARR.

Combined with the existing connectivity business, Group pro-forma ARR increased to approximately AU$662.9 million. Meanwhile, Network ARR grew 25% year-on-year to AU$277.7 million, while Network Net Revenue Retention improved to 113%, highlighting continued strength within the company's core connectivity operations.

Global Platform Provides Competitive Advantage

Megaport's infrastructure footprint spans more than 1,100 enabled data centres across 31 countries, providing a foundation for the planned AI Inference Cloud.

Management believes this global reach creates a competitive advantage by enabling distributed deployment of AI workloads across key international markets while leveraging existing customer relationships and network assets.

AU$827.3 Million Raising Supports Expansion Strategy

To fund the next phase of growth, Megaport announced a fully underwritten entitlement offer expected to raise approximately AU$827.3 million. The proceeds will primarily support GPU infrastructure deployment, strategic growth initiatives, and balance-sheet flexibility.

Following completion of the raising, the company expects pro-forma liquidity of approximately AU$287.6 million, providing substantial financial capacity to execute its AI expansion strategy.

Outlook

Megaport's latest announcements represent a significant strategic shift toward AI infrastructure and cloud-based compute services. While the company is not typically viewed among Australia's high dividend stocks, its expanding recurring revenue base, growing AI exposure, and global infrastructure footprint may appeal to investors seeking long-term growth opportunities in emerging technology markets.
