The increasing threats of pollution on earth coupled with an apparent diminishing effort of reducing it have already taken a toll on human lives. While we suffer from various incurable diseases, the environment is giving hints of destruction with a steep rise in environmental hazards. And beyond the limits of the earth, the environmental perils have had their telling effect on the ocean. Quite obviously, life on the sea is at stake. The natural habitat of about 97% of life on the planet is exposed to extreme risk. Scientists believe that the ocean world will soon be extinct if we do not take any measures to protect it. So, they have come up with the following tips to help save the "blue planet".

1. Curb the Plastic usage

This is the foremost thing we can start immediately to check the perils on the sea world. Plastics that are supposed to increase the convenience quotient actually end up in accumulated debris in the ocean. Excessive plastic accumulation destructs the natural habitat of ocean animals and thousands of marine animals actually die by getting entangled in it. To curb its impact, we should try using reusable packs and carriers for storing foods. In many places, non-disposable containers, cloth tote bags, and recyclable packets are being widely used to serve this purpose.

2. Ocean travels must be chemical-free

Responsible boating, kayaking, and recreational activities on the ocean can help save ocean life to a large extent. Also, avoid throwing anything overboard that may pollute the water. If you are up for cruising on your next holiday, look for eco-friendly options. Ocean life is also exposed to the chemicals exhaustion of the ships that travel through it. It’s important to reduce the carbon and chemical footprints of the ships as well.

3. Sustainable Food Choice

It mostly affects the fish than any other marine animal. No wonder, the fish population is terribly depleted due to excessive and unsustainable fishing and obviously for the loss of habitat. As the experts’ say, seafood choices are to be taken care of. Instead of indulging in overexploited species while dining out, opt for healthy and sustainable foods.

4. Beaches must be Clean

While we are busy adopting measures for protecting sea life, cleaning the beaches must be on the program. It’s because dirt, grime, and accumulated debris actually made their way into the ocean, thus making it prone to pollution. Whenever relaxing on the beach, make sure you do not leave any unused products behind. Participate in exploring wildlife without taking out the rocks and corals as they serve the natural environment for survival. We should use eco-friendly boats sanitation products to save the ocean environment.

5. Ocean-friendly Pet owner

You can do a part of your duty by being an ocean-friendly pet owner and all you need for this is little awareness. Avoid using pet food that is rich in overexploited seafood. Instead, go for sustainable foods. Cat litters contain pathogens which is detrimental to marine life. Avoid doing that. And finally, do not release your aquarium fish into the sea or other water bodies, as the non-native species can pose threat to marine life as well as the ecosystem.
