Disproportionate volume, sagging, small and underdeveloped breasts – these are aesthetic concerns that many women face which affect their self-confidence and self-esteem. Composite breast augmentation is a versatile approach that combines breast implants and a fat graft from the patient’s body to provide a more attractive, natural appearance along with increased volume. Lipoimplant augmentation is performed to:

  • Improve existing implants
  • Correct deformities
  • Achieve maximum cleavage and fullness
  • Resolve asymmetry

The Procedure

Breast implants may not provide the desired results if there is not enough breast tissue to cover them. In lipoimplant augmentation, the implants provide the core volume projection while the autologous fat graft covers the implants and offers a natural looking outcome.

During the initial consultation, the surgeon will evaluate the patient’s goals and anatomy in order to develop a customized treatment plan. Many established surgeons use 3D imaging at the consult so that patients can visualize the possible outcomes of the surgery and take an informed decision. Popular platforms such as Axis Three 3D imaging and VECTRA 3D imaging allow the patient to work with the surgeon to plan the surgical procedure to meet their specific goals.

The fat needed for augmentation is removed from areas such as the abdomen, waist, thighs or flanks using minimally invasive liposuction techniques. It is then purified and spun to ensure maximum survival of fat cells. After the breast implants (Saline, silicone or gummy bear) are placed, the purified fat is injected around or over the implant and molded to provide a more natural, soft and outstanding look.

After the procedure, the patient is advised to wear a compression garment to reduce swelling, bruising and for maximum support. Strenuous activities must be avoided and most patients resume normal activities within a week or two after the surgery. It may take a few months for the final results to appear.

This procedure provides increased volume and cleavage along with more attractive, youthful, natural-looking breasts. It also offers the benefits of two surgical procedures – breast enhancement and improved contour in the site from which fat is removed.

Locate an Experienced Breast Surgeon

For composite breast augmentation, it is important to find a surgeon with experience in performing the procedure. An ideal option is to locate a plastic surgery practice with dedicated breast surgeons. Make sure that the surgery is performed in an AAAASF-accredited surgical suite. These are important considerations when it comes to patient safety as well as optimal results.
