Using extremely harsh chemicals for oven cleaning will eat through any remaining debris in your oven. There is also a dizziness that comes with using harsh chemicals. So if your oven is not from the self-cleaning ones and you don't want to use noxious chemicals for cleaning, then you could make your own non-toxic oven cleaners from the products in your kitchen. They will help you clean your oven in a completely safe and natural way. It will definitely take a little time and elbow grease, but the result will amaze you.

How To Clean A Dirty Oven

What You Need

  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Damp cloth
  • Plastic or silicone spatula
  • Spray bottle

Here are a few tips that will get your oven clean without using harsh and expensive chemicals.

  1. Mix 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup salt, and 3/4 cup baking soda into a thick paste. Wipe the oven with a damp cloth and spread the paste over the entire surface. Leave the mixture to sit overnight and wash off in the morning. This method is most effective when the oven is not too dirty.
  2. You can clean the brown plaque from your oven window with baking soda and warm water. Make a paste, apply it, and leave for 15 minutes. Then wiping off the dirt will be much easier.
  3. Vinegar can also be used for oven cleaning. Put a little vinegar in a spray bottle and spray a small amount on a cool oven surface. Allow some time to react. If contaminants are small, you can wipe them off easily, if not, use a spatula to scrape them.
  4. A mixture of vinegar and baking soda will help you get all that black, baked-on food stuffs off the inside walls of your oven. Just apply it and leave for a few minutes. Then wipe the dirt off with a damp cloth. The oven will shine like new again.
  5. Dilute hot water with soap or dishwashing liquid. Pour it in a bowl. Spray the walls with this solution and place the bowl in the oven. Then run the oven at 120°C for 30 minutes. After that open the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Remove the dirt with a damp cloth.
  6. Pour one litre of water and a cup of vinegar in a bowl. Put it in the oven and run it at 120°C for 30 minutes. Then switch it off, wait a few minutes and wipe the walls while the oven is warm and wet. If needed, repeat the procedure with more vinegar.
  7. Dilute baking powder in water or a mixture of citric acid and baking soda. Spray the oven with this solution and wait a while. As a result, the accumulation of dirt and grime will break down into pieces. Then just wipe off.

There’s nothing quite like a sparkling clean house. It's an everyday challenge to find the time and keep the kids out of the way. According to cleaning experts in Perth, the best way to prevent grease and cooked-on food is to give the oven a quick wipe after each time you use it. You could hire professionals to clean your oven if you missed to do it a few times or don't have the time to do it.
