How to Choose a Merchant

In contrast to the conventional or contemporary way of manufacturing furniture, Haiku Designs chooses to from an alliance with companies that apply eco-friendly practices and use natural materials. In the spirit of these values, Haiku Designs is proud to introduce three different types of eco-friendly furniture into the American market.

  • E-1- Certified European Off Gas Emission Standards
  • ITTO- International Tropical Timber Organization- Sustainable Forest Management
  • Eco-Friendly Bamboo Furniture

These three rating-systems identify eco-friendly furniture that is constructed without causing any harm to the environment. They inform the public that they are purchasing furniture that is not made from toxic chemicals, e.g., paints and stains. Instead, they are made with raw materials that are harvested from forests that are sustainably managed. https://www.haikudesigns.com/

The"E-1", European Union Certification for furniture manufacturing is the highest rating on planet Earth. Created in the European Union, this classification system is the most stringent for furniture, and it rates products according to the amount of chemicals used and the degree of off-gassing of formaldehyde and other toxic gasses. In contrast, it also evaluates and grades the source of raw materials used and their degree of sustainability. As the greenest and highest rating available, the "E-1" certification guarantees zero off-gassing of any toxic chemicals and promises that approved products are made with natural if not organic materials. There are presently no such standards in the U.S., although California is now implementing a new system that will monitor any toxic off-gassing from furniture.

How to Choose the Product

What exactly is the difference between a platform bed-frame and a regular or more conventional bed frame? The answer is actually quite simple: The platform bed-frame, whether made from metal or wood, and finished in a variety of different ways, uses rows of solid wooden slats, upon which the mattress reclines. Sometimes, a platform structure may consist of a solid sheet of wood, but usually it has a slat-system, as pictured above. A conventional bed, on the other hand, uses a frame that requires a box-spring, upon which mattress is placed. However, aplatform-bed doesn’t need a box-spring, since the mattress—often made of natural latex—sits directly on the solid-wood slats. https://www.haikudesigns.com/platform-bed-frame.htm

Taking a closer look, from the viewpoint of furniture relocation and the art and craft of interior-design, the idea of a bed consisting of a mattress and a box-spring laying on a metal frame may seem cumbersome, unattractive and convenient, so you may want to consider the option of a platform bed and its many styles of construction.
