The Chrysler brand recently announced the winners of its 2014 Drive for the Kids program, and $25,000 in bonus funds have been awarded to five different schools across the United States. Drive for the Kids helps schools raise money for all sorts of worthy causes that include building playgrounds, taking field trips, supporting reading programs and purchasing new computers. The program encourages community involvement and gives students an opportunity to help raise money for their schools by recruiting test drivers to come to local elementary, intermediate and middle schools to experience the safety and efficiency of Chrysler minivans for themselves. The five schools that recruited the most test drivers have been awarded an extra $5,000 on top of the funds raised during the 2014 event.

The Chrysler brand prides itself on helping to strengthen local communities, and this program has been a success in its goal of helping schools raise money for things that benefit students and their communities. Each year, this program brings vehicles from local Chrysler dealerships to participating schools' parking lots, and schools invite their staffs, families and friends to test drive a Chrysler minivan in exchange for a monetary donation from the company. Each test drive results in a $10 donation from the Chrysler brand. The Drive for the Kids program began in 1993 and has continued to be a success for over 20 years.

The Drive for the Kids program encourages community involvement by getting a diverse cross-section of people involved in fundraising that benefits kids. Local dealerships provide the vehicles for the test drives, and participating schools compete to get the most test drivers. The winning schools from each region win additional funds on top of what they raise during the event. In 2014, the five winning schools raised over $19,000 from Chrysler brand to benefit their students. A winner from each of five regions of the United States was determined by tallying up the totals raised during their 2014 fundraising events.

The winning schools and their dealership partners have a good reason to be proud. They have been awarded an extra $5,000 for their success in fundraising. The winner from the Western region is Arma J. Shull Elementary School in San Dimas, California. The Central region winner is Hallsville Intermediate School in Hallsville, Texas. The Midwest Region winner is Mount Ayr Middle School in Mount Ayr, Iowa. The Northeast region winner is Most Holy Rosary School in Syracuse, New York. The winner from the Southeast Region is South Cumberland Elementary School in Crossville, Tennessee.

Chrysler is currently accepting applications for the 2015 Drive for the Kids event. These programs benefit local communities in several ways. In addition to helping schools, they also promote local businesses and give students a chance to see their recruitment efforts pay off. Schools that participate in the 2015 program will have a chance to win additional funds in 2016 after all the results have been tallied. There is no limit to the amount of money that can be raised during these events, and each licensed test driver age 18 or older receives a chance to earn $10 for the school by just taking a short test drive. These events are often scheduled to coincide with other events happening at the school to get the most participation.
