American Honda Motor Co. Inc. recently reported that February saw an overall increase in sales in both its Honda and Acura divisions, which were led by the light truck and sub-compact models. The following will a more in-depth look at this increase.

In total, Honda sold just over 92,000 vehicles for the month of February for all models. This marks an increase of 4 percent over the same months last year. This jump was spurred, in particular, by the Honda Fit sub-compact and the Honda Pilot. In fact, the Honda Fit posted yet another sales record for the month, jumping a huge 81 percent in total sales over the same month last year. The Honda Pilot light truck rose even higher than its sub-compact counterpart, as it saw an 82.7 percent increase in sales to a total of just under 13,000 vehicles for the month. This increase bodes well for the 2016 Honda Pilot, which is set to be released during the summer of this year. However, while these two vehicles had the biggest spike in sales, the Honda CR-V also rose by 7.4 percent to help push the light truck division to an increase of 12.6 percent for February. The CR-V sold 22,298 units, while total light truck sales reached 43,782.

The sub-compact Honda Fit is designed to be fuel-efficient and feature-intensive. The interior of the Honda Fit comes equipped with a large variety of features, such as Honda LaneWatch, a small camera situated on the side mirror of the passenger seat in order to provide video to the driver of everything beside and behind the right portion of the vehicle. A few of the other interior features include the HondaLink 7-inch display, pushbutton start, Hands-free Bluetooth, USB interface and music/cruise controls placed onto the steering wheel. The exterior comes with 16-inch alloy wheels and smart entry that indicates when the key fob is near the door of the vehicle. Some of the primary safety features include a rear-view camera that extends to multiple angles, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake distribution system and five airbags situated all throughout the sub-compact. The Honda Fit receives 41 mpg on the highway and 33 mpg in the city.

The Honda Pilot includes a wide range of features for every aspect of the light truck. An 8-inch high-resolution display provides a wealth of information on such things as fuel consumption and audio settings. A Bluetooth hands-free system, navigation system with voice navigation and DVD rear-entertainment system are just a few of the many premier features passengers and drivers alike can take advantage of. It should also be mentioned that the vehicle can seat up to eight passengers. The integrated trailer hitch attached to the rear of the vehicle can tow 2,000 pounds with the 2WD model and 4,500 pounds with the 4WD model.

A rear-view camera is attached to the vehicle that will send its feed to the display to help with any instances of backing up or parking, while ABS, EBD and VSA systems are in place to provide maximum protection while driving. The Pilot consists of a 3.5 liter V6 engine running at 250 horsepower, while drivers can make use of the five-speed automatic transmission. The Honda Pilot comes with a fuel economy of 18 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
