Eateries are usually very popular, and if you are just setting up shop then you can hope to reap profits provided you do it the right way. The first important thing for starting one is the location of the joint, which can be a new premise or even an existing one. You will have to renovate or even rebuild one if the structure is different from the infrastructure that you need. Ideally you can buy the premise but if that is not a workable option better get it on lease. Size is an important issue that you need to keep in mind while selecting the place.

The visitor’s area

The basic layout will need some mandatory places. The customer service area is most important when you have to do up a restaurant. There has to be a hostess station where the customers need to be greeted. A place to store the menus and reservation coaster is needed. The cashier’s station needs to be protected because it will contain the cash machines. Keeping the machines needs sufficient space, and people like to pick some mints or toothpicks after having to eat, so you need place to keep them. You will also need a sitting area where customers can wait for the table.

Hygiene is important

The kitchen area is important because healthy and hygienic food is the secret of running a successful eatery. Food is available at any store but to attract customers you have to build a restaurant that offers it in a decorative and clean manner. The food preparation area needs to be clean, and the materials needed to make food should be placed nicely. There should be a separate area for cleaning and sanitation. Rather than large, being organized is the key. On one end, should be the completed orders while on the other the orders from the servers should be queued.

Organizing the kitchen

The kitchen area usually has four parts. If you are making salads, appetizers, and desserts you will need a cold prep area. This place needs to be quite large because you will need a counter and shelves to keep the utensils and knives and all other equipment. The cooking station is for making the regular food. You will need to place the cooking range, fryers, preparation tables, steam tables and many more. You will need to plan and build a restaurant carefully before you start your dream restaurant. A number of cooks and chefs need to be able to stand and move around freely while making the food.

Washing and storing

The dish washing area is an important one because the large pots and pans need to clean regularly. You will need to have separate sinks for cleaning and sanitizing the ones that are too big for the dishwasher so that food quality can be maintained. A commercial dishwasher is also needed for washing the innumerable cups, dishes, and glasses that are constantly used in an eatery. Additional things like a cooler, a refrigerator, a pantry for canned goods, a scale, are necessary for proper weighing and storing of the products. You will also need a place for storing and cleaning the linen.

Maintain the records

Every eatery needs an office space for maintaining the files and ledgers. You have to place a table, computer, phone lines, and a filing cabinet. Your employees will need room to store their personal items and for the cigarette breaks. A restroom is very important both for the employees and the guests. Ideally you should have separate ones for men and women. They should be well ventilated, and the design should be such that it is easy to clean and maintain. For best services, ample amount of toilet rolls should be stocked at all times.

Decorate the dining area

The dining area has to very spacious so that the people can dine in a relaxed manner. It should be selected depending upon the number of people you want to accommodate every day and those during rush and special hour. You can either place dining tables or booths or a combination of both. The seating arrangement has to do according to the design of the eatery and the way it looks orderly and inviting. Setting up a dream project needs a lot of thinking and planning before the actual work begins because they have to be financially viable as well.
