Maryland is situated in Mid-Atlantic area, US. Maryland is the smallest state of its area and it’s thickly populated. It has highest income and one of the wealthiest states. Maryland wine is made in Maryland. Maryland has four different growing regions which allow growing great variety of grapes.

Climate of Maryland

Maryland has wide range of climate. The climate depends on many factors mainly water, altitude and winds. Maryland has sandy and muddy soil. Atlantic Coastal Plain has hot and humid climate in summers and winters are moderate. Western Maryland has mild summers and snowy winters.

Maryland Wine Festival

Maryland Wine Festival is held on third weekend of September annually. Tradition of festival started in 1984. It is known as largest and oldest wine festival. It has space of over 25,000 people and has sample of more than 200 wines.

Boordy vineyards are oldest Maryland’s wineries. Free wine tasting rooms are present there and tour to vineyard is allowed. Events like concerts, open air festivals etc. are held in Boordy Vineyards.

In 19776, Bon Sporanza Winery opened and it was closed soon in 1982, In 1977, another Ziem Wine Cellars opened and it was closed in 1998. In 1980, Philip sells Boordy Vineyard and winery was moved to Hydes. In 1981, Grape Growers Association was formed for the working on wine garden. In 1983, Woodhall vineyard was opened and Linganore area was formed in Maryland. In 1984, Maryland Wine Festival was held. In 1984, Whitemarsh Cellars was opened and it was closed in 1987. In 1985, Loew Vineyards was opened and Cumberland Valley area was formed in Maryland. In 1986, Fiore Winery was opened. In 1987, Catoctin

area was formed in Maryland.In 1993, Wood wine festival was held in Columbia. In 1996, Cygnus Winery was opened. In 1997, Friendsville winery was opened in Maryland. In 2000, it was allowed to sell wine publicly and wine stations were licensed. In 2000, Penn Oaks Winery was opened in Maryland. In 2000, in Maryland Wine Festival 25,000 people attended festival. In 2000, Maryland wineries have 86,954 gallons. In 2001, Maryland wineries launch its marketing campaign. In 2002, Little Ashby Vineyards was opened in Maryland.
