The Skoda Yeti was a complete car with feature loaded interiors and excellent looking exteriors. However, this car could not do well in the Indian car market. Even at the time of launch, Yeti did not find much favour among the buyers in India. The high price tag it carried also turned out to be a dampener. Consequently, despite being a good car, Yeti failed to takeoff. However, Skoda knew that the Yeti is too good a vehicle to be withdrawn from the market, that too, at a time when Indians are warming up to the idea of a compact SUV.

Accordingly, Skoda re-worked certain aspects of Yeti and revamped it to address the shortcomings of the earlier editions. Now, just like the Octavia and Superb, which have received good response on their revamps, Yeti is also back with a facelift. Skoda vehicles are of excellent quality. They come with advanced technologies and superior engineering – it is mainly the marketing, pricing and positioning of the cars in the market, which has failed the Skoda cars in the past. Now, Skoda is all set to do better by introducing an even better edition of the Yeti. It will be offering more of an ‘outdoors’ feel than an urban feel. Skoda had successfully tried the concept of city variant of SUV and outdoor variant of SUV in some international markets. This could work out in India too and hence, Yeti is being marketed as a true Urban SUV in India. Skoda is offering only the Elegance trim to the buyers. It is offered in two variants, but all other trims are discontinued. Consequently, one variant will offer front-wheel-drive, whereas the other will offer 4×4 drive. The Yeti Elegance 4X2 is priced at 18.99 lakh rupees. The 4X4 variant will cost the buyer close to 20.54 lakh rupees.

On the exterior, the Skoda Yeti facelift features new headlights, a revamped grille, and all new bumper, which the makers claim is in line with the new design language of the Skoda cars globally. The Skoda logo is placed on the bonnet, instead of the grill as in the earlier edition. The new car offers a set of fresh looking LED tail lamps, which add to the elegance of the rear.

On the inside, the Yeti will come with dual-zone A/C, cruise control mechanism, powered driving seat, sunroof, rear seats that can be fold individually, optical parking assistance, high seating position and greater visibility among others.

The engine is the same as in earlier versions. The 4X2 variant is mated to a five-speed manual transmission and the 4X4 comes with a six-speed auto transmission. The main competition to the Yeti is from SsangYong Rexton W, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V and Isuzu MU-7.
