Three Reasons to Choose the Subaru Liberty

As the 2015 Subaru Liberty hits showrooms, the model is celebrating its twenty five year anniversary in Australia. The Subaru Liberty has retained popularity throughout its impressive lifespan, but while some may consider this model to be past its prime, here are three reasons why you should consider the new Subaru Liberty.

The Price:

Price is almost always the number one priority for potential buyers and fortunately, the Subaru Liberty carries an attractive price tag. With the 2.5 litre base model priced at just under $30k plus on the road costs, the new Subaru Liberty is back to 2002 prices. Additionally, the six cylinder flagship 3.6 litre model is now available from $41,990 plus on the road costs, making it the most attractively priced big six Subaru Liberty ever.

There are a number of reasons why prices for the new Subaru Liberty range are so attractive. The exchange rate is currently very favourable, the Free Trade Agreement has been established and the declining demand in a fierce competition segment. While this mid sized segment is waning, it still represents one of the toughest Australian markets. So, Subaru is keen to have a sales edge.

The Gear:

The fierce competition in the segment has meant that Subaru have not only addressed pricing but have added more innovations and gear to their models including the Subaru Liberty. The new Subaru models feature an enhanced specification as standard throughout the range. This includes reverse view camera, touchscreen media, adaptive cruise control, dual zone climate control, 18 inch alloys and an updated EyeSight collision prevention system. This means that the base model is not only cheaper than many equivalent entry level models but is packed with more features.

The Layout:

While the new Subaru Liberty has retained some reminders of the previous models, the new cabin layout is sure to impress. The design incorporates soft touch plastics on the door trims and dashboard, while the centre console and armrests feature thick padding to keep the comfort level high. The seats feel roomy and big, ensuring that you feel comfortable on long journeys regardless of whether you are a front or rear passenger. Rear passengers also have great leg, shoulder and headroom. There is also plenty of cargo space, with the new layout increasing the boot space to almost rival the Commodore at 490 litres. There is also 60:40 split folding rear seats to further increase cargo space should you need it.

Although the 2.5 litre engine is a carryover, this four cylinder Boxer engine has been rejigged to deliver 129 kW power and 235 Nm torque. This is paired with a continuously variable transmission for optimum performance, making the whole package even more attractive.
