Non-destructive testing or NDT includes different methods of locating damage. It is an important part of industrial plant inspection or material testing. Non-destructive, as the name suggests, is a process of testing material without altering its properties. Techniques like X-rays or gamma rays, industrial radiography or industrial CT scanning, eddy current, and magnetic particle inspection can be applied. Certified Welding Inspectors are usually entrusted with the responsibilities to take care of welds and their testing.

NDT methods are also applied for structural mechanics. There are also complex structures finding application across industries. Examples of these structures include turbo machinery in a liquid-fuel rocket. The testing methods are used to test these structures for loads that they are expected to carry during industrial application.
