Jaundice is also termed as icterus, terms which is used to illustrate a yollwish tinge to sclerate and skin which is due to the hyperbillirubinemia. The skin colour and white part of the eye varies and depends in the level of the person suffering from bilirubin. Bilirubin is a yellow thing which is responsible for the yellow skin and eye colour. It is a waste product which remains in the bloodstream after the removal of the iron from blood. There are three forms of jaundice usually found in person. First and the foremost form jaundice is termed as Hepatocellular jaundice. This form of jaundice occurs as a result of any infection or injury in liver. Other form is called as hemolytic jaundice, here it occurs as a result of hemolysis, and whereas last form is obstructive jaundice in which when there is an obstruction of bile duct which prevents the bilirubin from leaving the liver.

Causes of Jaundice

There are many reasons that are responsible for the cause of jaundice in people. Some of them are given as-

Inflammation of bile duct- if there is an inflammation in the bile duct then it may prevent the secretion of the bile and elimination of bilirubin which is the main cause of jaundice.

Acute inflammation of liver- It also results jaundice because of inability of liver to secrete and conjugate the bilirubin.

Obstruction of bile duct- It prevents the liver from disposing the bilirubin and results hyperbilirubin.

Cholestasis- It is a condition when the flow of bile from the body liver is disturbed.

Gilbert syndrome- It is an inherited situation which impairs the ability of enzymes that results the excretion of bile.

Ayurvedic Medicine for Jaundice

There are some very useful tips which we can use in the cure of patients who are suffering from jaundice. Some of them are given as -

  • Juice of carrot is very useful in treating the patient of jaundice.
  • Drink more lime juice, is one of the best natural remedy to cure jaundice.
  • 1. Juice of sugarcane and lemon is very beneficial.
  • 2. Mash a banana and have it with honey is useful.
  • 3. Minerals like iron and calcium is very important in healing the patient.
  • 4. Prune fruit is good for jaundice patients.
  • 5. Mixture of ginger, lime and mint is considered as the best formula for jaundice care.
  • 6. Avoid junk food, fried foods, oily and spicy in diet.
  • 7. Juice of bitter gourd is also very beneficial in treating the patients.
  • 8. Little change in lifestyle also works, like stop consumption of alcohol and other aerated drinks.
  • 9. Smoking should be prohibited.
