2015 Cadillac XTS Sedan
Posted: Jun 25, 2015
After last year's introduction, the 2015 Cadillac XTS Sedan gets the spotlight for its power. For 2015, this large luxury sedan gets an optional 410-horsepower turbocharged V-6 engine, along with electric power steering, an optional self-parking setup, and a dual-screen rear entertainment system.
The Cadillac XTS is available in four trim levels: base, Luxury Collection, Premium Collection and Platinum Collection.
Powering the 2015 Cadillac XTS is a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V-6 engine that generates 304 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with a standard six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is also standard, and all-wheel drive is optional. EPA-estimated fuel economy is 17 mpg city/28 mpg highway/21 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 17 mpg city/26 mpg highway/20 mpg combined with all-wheel drive.
Premium and Platinum Vsport models are motivated by a turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 engine that develops an impressive 410 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. of torque, matched with a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive standard, with EPA-estimated fuel economy for the Vsport trim checking in at 16/24/19.
Regarding performance, Kelley Blue Book had this to say: "The 2015 Cadillac XTS luxury sedan straddles the fence between pampering comfort and aggressive performance. It's a spot many luxury-car buyers will probably find quite appealing."
Standard safety features for the 2015 Cadillac XTS include antilock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, emergency braking assist, stability control, traction control, child seat anchors, front and rear seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, front knee airbags, tire pressure monitoring and the OnStar emergency telematics system. Optional safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist (FWD models only), lane departure warning and rear cross-traffic alerts. Also standard is a driver's seat that vibrates to let the driver know a collision is immanent. This groundbreaking system even vibrates on the side of seat the threat is coming from. Adaptive cruise control with low-speed automatic braking is standard on the Platinum trim and optional on the Premium.
Standard equipment for the Cadillac XTS includes push-button start, power-adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, satellite and HD Radio, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, 4G LTE connection with Wi-Fi and Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system. The latter includes an 8-inch LCD touch screen, integrated into the top of the instrument panel. Options include 22-way power front seats (with heat, ventilation and massage), a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, a sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, power-folding mirrors, a rear armrest with audio and sunshade controls, a 14-speaker surround-sound audio system, a navigation system, a dual-screen rear-seat Blu-Ray player and a backup camera.
Consumer Guide wrote: "We like that the XTS offers plenty of room, numerous safety features, near-opulent luxury, and decent driving dynamics, all at the lower end of the premium price point."
