'I was organising a wedding and now I'm planning a funeral' grieving bride-to-be left devastated
Posted: Jun 25, 2015
A devastated bride-to-be went from planning her wedding to planning her fiance's funeral three months before the pair were due to get hitched.
Andrew Wilson, 38, who was epileptic, died suddenly on Friday, hours after discussing wedding plans with his wife-to-be Donna Jones.
Heartbroken Donna, 35, said: "I was organising a wedding and now I'm planning a funeral.
"Within 15 minutes I've gone from planning the happiest day of my life, to devastation."
Andrew and Donna, 35, were due to have their dream wedding on September 26, at Capel Bethel in Ponciau, Wrexham.
He had epilepsy and a post-mortem examination and an inquest will take place to establish the cause of Andrew's death.
Andrew, of Ffordd Offa, Rhos, Conwy, north Wales, leaves stepson Dylan, his sister Amy, and his teenage son Aidan.
Donna said: "I loved him so much. It feels so surreal.
"I was organising a wedding and now I'm planning a funeral.

"He proposed to me on New Year's Eve two years ago and in the last 12 months we got really serious about planning for it and saving up."
She added: "We met in The Commercial pub in town five years ago and just hit it off straight away.
"He was full of life, bubbly, loud - a Liverpool FC fanatic who made everyone laugh and always had a smile on his face.
"Everyone knew him. I didn't believe him at first when he used to go on about how popular was, but we could never move through town without someone stopping him.
"He was nicknamed 'Shrek', I think because he dressed up as him once and it just stuck."
The couple planned to hold their wedding reception at the Wynnstay Arms in Ruabon.
But now everything has had to be cancelled.
Donna said she had been touched by the number of tributes left online for Andrew.
"A Facebook tribute page has been set-up and I've been shocked by the number of people who have left messages, it has been overwhelming," she said.
"Andy was a brilliant stepdad to my 16 year-old son Dylan, who has taken it really hard."
With the couple to marry in September, arrangements were well under way but tragically Donna has been forced to abandon plans.
She said: "Only the Saturday before he had arranged to get his suit fitted with his best man, Darren Jones.
"They decided to go for a pint in the Ironworks beforehand and the guys from Off the Cuff [menswear store] were laughing their heads off, as they ended up having to take the tape measure and suits over there instead.
"That's the kind of thing he got up to and why everyone loved him. "Today I've popped into town to get the wedding bouquet, to place on his coffin for the funeral and I'm getting him a Liverpool shirt to go with it.
"On the Facebook tribute page there is a video from his stag-do on May 2, when I'd got him dressed up as a fairy for it.
"It's had so many shares and likes it has gone viral, but at the end of it he said 'I'm in heaven' and it gets to me every time I see it.
"I want to thank everyone for their support, messages and kind gestures, especially the paramedics who attended to him on the day he died.
"They were brilliant and so was the Wrexham Maelor Hospital accident and emergency department and the sisters who work there."
