They believed this area to be perfect for chardonnay and pinot noir. Being lesser marketed, this wine has exceptional values. The vineyard’s pinot noir is gorgeous and earthy, while the Chardonnay here is beautiful with brioche and orange layers.

BOEKENOOGEN

John Boekenoogen, in 1997, has transformed his cattle ranch in Santa Lucia Highlands into a professional vineyard producing chardonnay, syrah and pinot noir. It also produces petit sirah and zinfandel that are rare ones in Monterey. This vineyard has a large patio and serves as a picnic spot. Its peachy viognier is a great option to zinfandel. It has a jammy nature without any dragon breath.

PARSONAGE

Mary and Bill, in 1998, had started to plant their south faced hillside vineyard of seven acres with petit verdot, syrah, and merlot and cabernet sauvignon. These were the first people to plant syrah in the entire Carmel Valley. They have a well decorated tasting room with colorful giclees. Tanner Cabernet sauvignon has a satin like rich feel. Syrah is also beautiful with chewy tannins.

Francis and Russell Joyce, a father-son team makes small lot of wines from their small vineyards in Monterey, Santa Lucia Highlands and San Benito. This winery has everything you look for, right from contemporary art and urban tasting room to high quality wines.
