2015 Toyota RAV4

Posted: Jun 26, 2015
The Toyota RAV4 is one of the segment leaders in the hotly contested crossover segment and the automaker shows no signs on resting on its laurels. For the 2015 model year, there's a new Blizzard Pearl appearance package for the Limited trim, while the XLE gets new wheels and an optional power liftgate.
Continuing to power the crossover is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Output is 176 horsepower and 172 lb.-ft. of torque to the front wheels. This potent powerplant is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and gets an estimated 24 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 26 mpg combined with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive models get 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined.
As for the driving experience itself, Edmunds.com writes: "The 2015 Toyota RAV4 handles well and feels refined and comfortable when cruising down the highway. A potential exception is the Limited model, which can get a little jittery on rough pavement due to its big 18-inch wheels. In spite of that, the cabin remains very quiet, making Toyota's crossover a good option for families with young children who tend to sleep in the car."
The RAV4 is rich in features, from safety equipment to creature comforts. The crossover possesses over 38 cu.-ft. of space behind the rear row seats; this increases to over 73 cu.-ft. when those seats are dropped. It’s also easy to load large cargo items back there thanks to the low-mounted rear seats and low load-in height.
Another key item to the Toyota RAV4 is its safety. Standard safety equipment for the 2015 Toyota RAV4 includes antilock disc brakes with emergency braking assist, stability control, traction control, whiplash-reducing front head restraints, front-seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, a driver knee airbag and a rearview camera. The Limited trim gets an optional Technology package that adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts and lane departure warnings.
The NHTSA gave it four out of five stars in overall safety. Similarly, the non-profit IIHS rated it "Good" (its highest rating) in crash tests.
The Toyota RAV4 is available in three trim levels (LE, XLE and Limited) for the 2015 model year. All come with distinctive set of features to help shoppers eliminate any guesswork on which trim has what features. The well-equipped base LE comes with such niceties as Bluetooth and folding side rearview mirrors while the mid-level XLE adds foglights and automated climate control. The RAV4 Limited, as the top-level trim, gets most of the equipment from the lower trims plus exclusive bits like a power liftgate. See your local Toyota dealership for a full list of features – both standard and optional -- found on the RAV4.
