Oregon is a State located in the Pacific North-west region of United States whereas Ohio wineries is situated in the Midwestern portion of the continent. The two states are perhaps separated by as many as six major U.S States lying between their boundaries and yet due to their latitudinal proximity both the States are renowned for their wineries and wine-tasting across the globe.

The soil and drainage in Ohio wineriesare two factors which promote the vibrant growth of a variety of grapes: the fertile limestone soil and pleasurable temperatures along the Ohio River and Lake Erie have contributed to the intense flavor of its grapes.

Alone in the year 2007, the State of Ohio has earned as much as $53million in the retail sale of wines and $33 million dollars as taxes. According to the Alcohol Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Ohio was the seventh largest wine producer in the United States in 2012. As of today, theState of Ohio is also the second largest wine appellation of origin in the continent in terms of space.

Wine-tasting in Oregon:

The history of Wine production in the State of Oregon can be traced back to before the period of Prohibition in 1920’s but there was a sudden bloom in the industry in the 1970’s. In the year 2005 the wineries in Oregon were ranked third among the U.S with a total of 303 wine producing units spread across the Willamette Valley, Columbia George, Umpqua Valley and Portland Area.

The demographists have claimed that due to regional similarity in climate and soil the grapes in Oregon are of the finest quality and are at par with the grapes produced in the French regions of Alsace and Burgundy in terms of taste. See more information click here.
