In your new bathroom you will not want to find mould as it can be quite annoying after spending all that time and money redecorating. There are different methods which you can use to ensure that your bathroom does not start growing mould.

Depending on the bathroom mould can grow quickly if it has the ideal conditions, being warm and most. So try and make sure when you are doing your DIY that you put in place methods to get rid of mould. Of course there are all these different products which you can use to get rid of it but ideally you don’t want it growing the in the first place. It can grow anywhere which stays damp for long periods of time and realistically has nothing to do with how clean your house is.

So what can be done to prevent it?

  • Buy an extractor fan- this is the most costly of all ideas, but actually you can get ones very cheap. The higher the airflow per cubic meter the more effective it is, so get one which fits your budget.
  • Open the window- in most bathrooms you have a nice big window so make sure once you are done to open it to ensure that the air circulate allowing the damp to be removed.
  • Wipe down- after you are done make sure to get all the excess water out as this will speed up the drying process. This can be done with a window washer, use it on the glass and tiles for the best outcome
  • Open the doors- after you are done again make sure that you leave all the doors open this includes the doors from the shower enclosure but also the bathroom door. This again lets the air circulate, meaning there is a less chance of mould growing.
  • Cleaning products- Make sure you clean the bathroom regularly, this will not solve the solution but can also help prevent it. If you use something like the good old bleach then you can make sure that you kill the mould but also you should scrub it to ensure that its has been removed.
