"Chevrolet to Use 'Hidden Gems' Campaign for Trax Launch"

The 2015 Chevrolet Trax is an all-new crossover with a decidedly urban bent. Chevy has launched a campaign that combines the introduction of the Trax with an emphasis on the best of city living. The Hidden Gems campaign recognizes that every city has hidden assets. These entertainment and cultural venues may not be well-known, but each, nonetheless, contributes to the rich fabric of urban life. Even as Chevrolet introduces the Trax to the public, the campaign hopes to celebrate these gems by shedding light on them through social media.

The Hidden Gems campaign has enlisted some twenty social media influencers in New York and Chicago. They will follow an itinerary with the dual purposes of highlighting special places in their city and revealing the personality and capabilities of the Trax. In addition to live blogging and tweeting, the reports will be assembled on a website, Hidden Gems in the City. This will enable city dwellers and visitors to learn more about the city's hidden assets.

In addition, three long videos will be released that highlight the varied entertainment and nightlife of New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Well-known blogger Megan Collins, the Style Girlfriend, will introduce the Trax in a series of meet-and-greets with influential city residents.

The 2015 Chevrolet Trax represents Chevrolet's efforts to handle the competing needs of urban drivers. Like a subcompact, the Trax has a short wheelbase, allowing it to fit into tight parking spaces in busy urban places. That short wheelbase also gives it a tight turning circle. Basically, the Trax is designed for the very places where hidden gems may be found in a bustling city. Yet, unlike a typical subcompact, the vehicle's height ensures plenty of headroom and legroom inside. Drivers will feel invited into the cabin rather than crammed into it.

Of course, the Trax is a hatchback which means that it offers generous cargo space. That can be expanded by folding down the split back row. The folding front seat is a class-leading feature that makes the Trax more versatile than many rivals. In addition to its urban-smart size, the Trax earns its keep by offering good fuel economy. The crossover gets 34 mpg/highway. Still, it offers ample power for the daily commute. The Car Connection reports that the SUV's six-speed automatic transmission offers a helpful range of gear ratios. On the one hand, it allows quick take-offs, always a plus when entering the highway during rush hour. On the other hand, it has a deep overdrive sixth gear that is good for relaxed cruising on the interstate.

The Hidden Gems campaign originated, in part, because Chevy has placed a major emphasis on connectivity. From OnStar Wi-Fi to the MyLink touchscreen, the Trax offers many ways for consumers to tap into today's social and infotainment apps. The unique BringGo system makes it affordable for the average commuter to have a navigation system on board.

For several years, the Trax has been offered in other markets. Before offering the novel urban SUV here, Chevrolet worked on increasing the ride quality, succeeding in hushing the cabin noise. Additionally, safety systems were upgraded to match the tough U.S. requirements. The Trax has 10 airbags, which is four more than the average SUV today.

The Hidden Gems campaign, which began February 28, continues through the summer. This coincides with the introduction of the Trax in dealerships across the country.
