Embroidered cushions bring additional texture and color to any space. Experimenting with elegantly designed pillows and floor poufs is one way to add a touch of sophistication to your interiors. They brighten up sofas and at the same time provide you and your guests relaxing implements during leisure time. These decorative pieces make spaces extra luxurious and are great for creating different looks for your space.

There is no hard and fast rule when it comes to decorating your home with pillows and embroidered cushions. After all, people have varying tastes when it comes to home design. However, there are guidelines you can follow so you will avoid overcrowding your space with cushions. With the wealth of stunning designs available online, it can be tempting to purchase more than you need. Here are some things you can consider when creating pillow and floor cushion arrangements for your living room, bedroom or other spaces you use to relax, hang around, and entertain guests:

  • The designs you choose should take from the existing patterns that your target room has. Mixing patterns (such as geometric designs) with solid pieces is always a good approach, if you want to emphasize colors and designs. This is a great way to highlight the subtle patterns that exist within the room. You can also pick up color tones from the walls or other decorative elements present.
  • Use primary colors as a base if you want to keep a simple palette. A nice way to add an interesting catch on your pillow and cushion choices is to experiment with various shapes and sizes. Square and round cushions are quite common, but mixing them with rectangular pieces, bolsters, and even irregularly shaped pillows will make them even more phenomenal against your sofa or your floor.
  • Floral designs are also quite popular. However, you should be careful in selecting designs that don't clash with each other. A crafty solution when you find yourself with a pair of clashing patterns is to add a third pattern or a solid piece in between to achieve the balance you are aiming for. Mixing together different color palettes and scales can result in an inviting and sophisticated visual for your room.
  • You can also try out as many patterns and designs as you can find in your favorite pillows and cushions store as long as they are in the same color palette. This is a good way to add theme and unite the decor in any room.
