The term Tele-media has often been associated with electronics by most people. Although this is true, methods of Tele-media are in many other different forms. The history of Tele-media almost goes back to that of advent civilization. Value-added service (VAS)

VAS is a popular term in the Telemedia Services sector. It is used to refer to the non-core services; those that are beyond fax transmissions and the standard voice calls. Value-added services can also be applied in any other service industry to refer to those services that are offered for free to boost their day-to-day business. However, in the telecommunication world, VAS spurs the consumer of a certain phone to continue using their products by adding value to the service delivery.

In the past years, data access, MMS, and Premium Rate SMS were considered as value-adding technologies. However, these services are now been considered as core services therefore they have started being excluded. There are three categories of the Mobile Value-added services today namely; Enterprise VAS, Consumer VAS, and Network VAS. A content provider may supply the Value-added Services in cases where mobile operators do not offer these services directly to the users. For example, Reuters may act as content providers.
