Start designing-

Designing starts with some idea and concept which generally are sketched on a paper. But in today’s highly developed world, designers are mostly considering CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawing and modelling software.

This aid makes them more organized and swift as aspects of designing machinery and product are tedious, repetitive and boring, but are extremely essential as well. Improper routine from the beginning can create a complete clutter and chaos in the designing process. It’s also recommended to take suggestion from considerable people with knowledge to avoid designing something that is either impossible to make or tremendously costly and unfeasible.

Considerations for concept design-

A concept is just the visualization of the model of your design, which can be illustrated as a sketch on a paper, a computer or even as a physical model. They can be about various types of product or machinery designs.

To get these concepts end up in production, your task is to combine functionality and aesthetic demand with practical costing and manufacturing processes. It is extremely important to have the ideal concept, as this is the only keystone for all future efforts in your design. The chief benefit of a concept drawing is that it can be used to gather opinion and these collated opinions can be assessed to ascertain the aspect that would be influential to your concept.

Level of tolerances-

A very important factor that needs consideration in any kind of mechanical designing is that none of the industrialized process is accurate in its ability to replicate the supposed dimensions that are specified by you. So this becomes your duty to design your concept in such a way that even with the imperfections in the process of manufacturing, the concepts can be repeated time and again. This is actually the notion of tolerance, which is needed to be specified wherever possible in your design.

Prototype stage-

This phase is all about exploration on the most competent, cost effective and aesthetically way of constructing your concept. You may experience many problems in this stage like making a simple mistake that may bear serious consequences such as financial inferences which may even lead to cancellation of the design due to the huge rise in costs.

Concept development-

Now that you are ready with some final mechanical concept of the product and machinery designs in your hands, it’s time to comprehensively and accurately measure all probable magnitudes of your prototypes. Make sure to have as many prototypes as possible so that you may provide a sample that is statistically most relevant.

The next important thing is to determine some data from these parts. Check if all the parts fit together in your concept as they were supposed to do, and if they do, it’s time for you to be happy as you have achieved your design mission.

Author bio:

Leon Grant has performed a series of interview with the owners of several industrial machinery traders in the U.S., one of them is Design Industries Inc. From all these interviews, he established that the machinery designs in Kentucky are the best among many others available in the U.S. and so are in great demand among all small and large scale industries.
