Interarch Buildings- Growing with India
Posted: Jul 21, 2015
The much talked about Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport was a landmark project that symbolized the changing face of India to the world. But few know that in terms of planning, architecture and project management too, it is a watershed incident in the history of Indian construction, and especially pre-engineered structures. The IGI-Terminal 3 project is known as one of the largest and most fast paced projects undertaken by any developer on Indian soil.
The credit for designing and implementing this prestigious project goes to Interarch Buildings, India’s largest PEB company. The company started its operations in India way back in 1984 and brought in the technology of pre-engineered buildings in the country. Interarch specializes in pre-engineered metal building systems, right from false and metal ceilings, to blinds, metal roofing to pre-engineered steel buildings.
Time and again, Interarch Buildings has proved its expertise and leadership position in pre-engineered construction. Sunrise sectors like automobile and ancillary industries, logistics and warehousing, port infrastructure, power, on-road retailing, and airports and aviation have increasingly opted for the technologically advanced PEB buildings. Interarch has also delivered several pre-engineered steel buildings and advanced steel construction solutions for clients in major infrastructure projects. The Delhi IGI project is a case in point.
In fact, the benefits of PEB buildings in India are slowly being recognized. The pre-engineered buildings India market has gained momentum; and its growth is fuelled by infrastructure development and the increasing popularity of PEB systems in the industrial sector. Interarch has been a pioneer in the field and has grown with every successful project delivered. Today, the company added another division, Interarch Infrastructure to address the growing needs of the infrastructure industry. Pre-engineered buildings find widespread application in highrise buildings, malls and multi-level car parks, airports and terminal buildings, metro station structures, bridges and flyovers, monorail structures, stadia, skywalks and façade interfaces.
The aviation sector requires a larger than life infrastructure, both in terms of buildings as well as land space. As the country develops, there is a need to expand and upgrade the airports. There is an increased demand for superior pre-engineered structures in the cargo and freight sectors as well. Interarch has served the Indian aviation industry since 1982.
The IGI-Terminal 3 building is the second largest integrated terminal building of its kind in Asia. Interarch successfully delivered the project with more than 200 engineers and over 2000 skilled workmen deployed on-site. With respect to the roofing aspect of the project, unlike other pre-engineered metal building systems in the country, Interarch raised the bar and achieved a new level of leadership position. 45 acres of roof was laid by hand, layer-by-layer; comprising 7 independent insulating layers in all. In engineering terms, almost 1.3 million square meters of roofing came together using some of the most tough to handle roofing material in the world. Interarch Buildings has grown from strength to strength, and is the top turnkey pre-engineered steel construction solution provider in the country, growing with the country.
