A spring is a device which changes its shape and size in response to some external force and subsequently returns to its original shape upon removal of those forces.

Spring tool refers to the tools used in spring and wire forming machines. • COILING

In this process, both mechanical and CNC machines are employed to coil the springs. Mainly rollers and wire feeders are used to coil the spring and it is being cut when the required length is obtained. The number of coils can be adjusted by the amount of wire feed given. But before starting this process, tooling is required to ensure proper bend radius and grounding the mandrels.

• HAND WORK

Handmade springs are basically bent around a rod or a mandrel which is secured in the chuck of a lathe machine.

• SECONDARY PROCESS

In this process, the base and the end parts are made. The loops and bends of the springs are mainly made in this process.

• GRINDING

Grounding of the springs is done in this process with the help of special spring tooling. Mainly these processes are done by CNC machines or any automatic machines so that both sides of the spring can be grounded at the same time.

After manufacturing of these springs, quality check and inspection is being conducted on them. Tolerance and dimensions should be made according to the standards or as per the specifications given by the contractor or buyer.
