The office is like your second home, after all, you spend most of your time at the workplace. So it makes sense to avoid certain usage habits that will make your furniture age faster and require that it be replaced sooner. In order to make sure your office furniture lasts longer it is essential to take good care of it. Since furniture is such an integral part of our workplace here are some tips on how to take care of different types of furniture.

Leather

Widely used for executive or managerial office chairs and sofas. The general rule for all leather furniture is to keep them away from sunlight as it can damage the material. A protective stain resistant spray can be applied so as to avoid stains on light colored furniture such as white. Avoid using alcohol based cleaners to clean leather surfaces, strictly use those designed specifically for cleaning leather.

Wood

Often used for meeting room tables, managerial desks and executive office furniture. As compared to leather, wooden furniture for office is easier to maintain and take care of. To maintain its appearance wooden furniture can be polished every once in a while. It is also recommended to always use coasters to keep tea and coffee stains at bay as it is difficult to remove them later.

Fabric

Fabric is now a part of modular office furniture and mostly used for screen coverings, office chairs and the reception area. Fabric easily absorbs most liquids, therefore any spills will spoil your fabricated furniture very quickly. The good part is that, if cleaned gently and immediately, the stain can be removed completely.

Steel or metal

Generally used for building tambour cupboards and filing cabinets. When it comes to metal and steel it is recommended to not use anything abrasive since they have a tendency to get rust easily. Cleaning them with a soft cloth will make them shine and look good as new.

Apart from these, general habits such as using mouse pads to avoid scratches on the surface of the desk and keeping food away from the desks will make the office furniture look good for a long time.
