John Eldredge's Wild At Heart Book Review
Posted: Jul 28, 2015
John Eldredge's Wild At Heart is one of the best and most insightful Christian books ever.
At the core of this book lies the masculinity in the current evangelical Christian culture. He talks about how from the moment men are born, they want to feel like they are heroes. They want to be strong and independent warriors leading an adventurous life. However, somewhere along their way to becoming the men they hoped they would be, many men they lose track of these dreams and initial instincts and fall under the pressure of the need to be the 'nice guy'.
Eldredge thinks that the church is the one to blame for this because it is the one that contributes to men becoming weak, soft, and mild. The book Wild at heart is a call for all men around the globe to take the stand and work towards becoming what every woman wants and needs: a strong and a reliable man. Eldredge is convinced that modern era has feminized men too much and has destroyed their macho - men mentality.
The author states that only God's glory can help men restore their masculinity and become the real men that God wants them to be. Men need to find their long-lost spiritual warrior deep inside them and become what they were destined to be.
John Eldredge's book Wild At Heart has received a lot of harsh criticism. Many critics claim that the book misses some scriptural references and that the author talks as if he were God. However, this amazing book is a must-read for all men who have always dreamed to become heroes. The reality is that men are slowly losing their masculinity and inner strength because of the modern culture.
John Eldredge's book Wild At Heart implies that men desire three different things:
An adventure to live – A real adventure requires men to put their lives on the line so that they can prove they are valuable, and this involves fighting dangerous battles.
A battle to fight – Men want to fight for their goals in life. Deep in their hearts, they are fighters.
A beauty to rescue – Women has been the inspiration for men's adventures and heroic moves for many years. They are the main reason why men struggle.
However, deep down in their heart women also desire for three things: To have the beauty which they can unveil, to be wanted and to share an adventure. John Eldredge's Wild At Heart explains how both modern men and women fight with expectations. This amazing book is not about stereotypes but rather about rediscovering passions: the passion for life and the passion for each other.
I learned from the best, and am here to share that with you :)
