The infrastructure woes of Chandapura residents

Posted: Jul 27, 2015
Chandapura located in South Bangalore is a upcoming suburb which is well connected to the electronics city and Hosur Road. The area which has been famous for its weekend markets offering fresh fruits and vegetables has been slowly becoming an epitome of real estate development. Everything from independent plots top high rise apartments, villas and exotic penthouses are all available at Chandapura at economical prices. The downside however is that the area has very poor civic and social infrastructure compared to some of the other areas and regions of Bangalore city.
Water Woes: The apartments offered in Chandapura are all well developed with modern designs and perfect ambience and safety measures. Gated communities are safe for residents as well as the small distance from electronic city makes the area a great investment option for many especially the working class of the city. The area has a severe water scarcity problem which has been going unaddressed and the gravity of the problem is likely to increase as the area becomes more inhabited.
Garbage and Sanitation Woes: Another major hurdle which makes life difficult for residents in Chandapura is the lack of any proper garbage disposal program. There is no door to door collection of garbage in Chandapura as is the precedent in other areas of the city. Residents have to take care of their garbage disposal themselves with irregular lifting of garbage from the disposal spots.
Civic Infrastructure Woes: The area lacks in civic and infrastructural woes and pipes for waste disposal and sewage are not upgraded from the time the area was an agricultural hub. The farmers are unhappy as they feel builders are grabbing their land and becoming rich while their quality of life remains the same. Residents are also unhappy as basic civic and infrastructural woes continue to go from bad to worse with each passing year.
Good Connectivity but Bad Roads: One big USP of investing or staying in Chandapura is the good connectivity the area has with virtually all parts of Bangalore. The problem is that the roads in Chandapura leave a lot to be desired socially when the area is geographically at a central location of the national Highway, Hosur Road, Electronic city and other major landmarks of Bangalore.
Chandapura residents are living a compromised life as they can only live freely as long as they stay indoors in their gated communities. Once they are out in the open everything from civic woes to safety issues and connectivity problems due to bad roads haunt them for choosing Chandapura as their preferred residential destination in the city.
