Shamanic healing is counted as one of the huge numbers of healing techniques available for us to take benefits today. Similar to acupuncture its origins are in the mists of time and akin to acupuncture its power is in unseen energy. It is based on shamanic healers for thousands of years in tribal groups all around the world. There are numbers of modern practitioners of this present healing art.

Conventionally the term shaman refers to a person who was capable to communicate with the spirits and call other realities with their personal spirit allies. The same thing applies in the modern shamanism and a practitioner will use a drum or rattle to find an altered state of awareness. In this changed condition, she is capable to enter into the lower world, middle world or even the upper world which are considered as unseen other realities.

In other worlds, she journeys with her power animal and assistants to ask for healing for whoever has appealed her services. Shamanic healing is related to energy, and normally the shamanic practitioner looks at the lack of health and happiness on any stage as being about loss of energy in many forms.

Trauma, tension, abuse and severe accident at any moment in one's life can end in loss of life force, critical energy or spirit which is recognized as 'soul loss'. In order to carry onbadly challenging conditions a soul part lefts the person and takes protection in one of the other worlds, enchanting with it some of the life power. It is helpful for the complete survival. Though, it often results in despair, apathy, incapability to move on after a loss or death or troubles with the immune approach.

The main task of a shamanic healer is to track down the soul part in the other worlds, to offer it remedial and comfort and to request it to return and bring back its optimistic qualities which is titled as 'soul retrieval'.

Another issue addressed by the modern day shamanic healer is that of 'power loss.' Power loss is widespread and may be caused by confrontation, exams ill health, unrelenting problems and lack of community support and erosion of self- esteem, stressful family circumstances or manipulative relationships. Without our inherent vitality and connection to the cosmic web we become dis-empowered, dejected and dispirited. The shamanic solution is for the healer to journey to the lower world to retrieve the individual's power animal. Power then returns along with the ability to approach life more confidently and deal with the challenges it presents.

The ancient practice of shamanic healing is alive and well and is very useful for an individual who recognizes any of the symptoms referred to. It can support therapy or counselling when it feels as if an impasse has been reached. It is also useful for a personal development coach to have a shamanic practitioner on their referral list as a individually tailored shamanic sessions to retrieve soul parts and/or a power animal will give the individual more energy and incentive to design and work towards life goals.
