Surrogacy comes into play when a couple fails to conceive. Another woman carries and gives birth to a child for couple who are willing to have a baby. The couple might not be able to give birth to a child due of varied medical reasons. Surrogacy in India has initiated the cause of helping couples in having a baby of their own. For any surrogacy to be successful one needs an apt surrogate mother. Surrogate mother is the woman who agrees to carry the baby for the intended parents. We will talk more about the surrogate mother later.

There are two main procedures of Surrogacy in India:

Traditional Surrogacy: it is a process in which a woman is artificially inseminated with the father’s or donor’s sperm. Often the friends or relatives of the intended parents are the surrogates in case of traditional surrogacy. The newborn baby will be genetically related to the intended parents. The main benefit of traditional surrogacy is that it is less complex. If the first try at artificial insemination fails to work by any chance a second try can be made within few weeks, instead of waiting for months. It is a speedy and pretty painless process comparatively.

Gestational Surrogacy: in this type of surrogacy the child is not genetically related to the intended parents. The surrogate delivers the baby who is created from the egg and sperm of the intended parents. If the woman is not able to produce healthy eggs then an egg donor can be sued.

For any surrogacy to be successfully the surrogate mother needs to be physically and mentally sound. She should be free from any kind of diseases, should be a non- smoker, should agree to all the conditions laid down for been a surrogate, should be emotionally strong and should be ready to deal with any kind of situation during the pregnancy process.

IVF Surrogacy in IndiaIVF stands of In Vitro Fertilization. To undergo IVF with a surrogate, a woman should fall under the given medical conditions. She should have adequate ovarian reserve but medically incapable of conceiving, absence or congenital deformity of the uterus and medical conditions that make pregnancy life threatening for her. With surrogacy comes along the expenses of medical treatment and also the money that the surrogate might charge. Cost of Surrogacy in India is comparatively less expensive than other countries.
